Anybody use em?..like the Kindle or the Nook..I have the nook n its awesome if you like to read :yoyo:
We bought our daughter the Kindle 3 G last Christmas. My wife wanted the Kindle Fire this year and it arrived today. VERY nice. I wouldn't mind one for myself.
Yeah I really like mine n u can get free books online or at your local library too
My mother has been pleased with her Kindle, and my daughter loves her iPad.
Myself, I'm old school. Prefer the real McCoy.
I like books myself also the older the better...BUT...there's alot to be said to downloading books on your Nook and having it all in such a tiny little package. I never thought I would like an e-reader but I am a fan now, just put Call of the Wild, White Fang, Origin of Species, and Robinson Crusoe on it, should hold me for the weekend
Never touched one :nono:
Don't fear the e-reader Jimbo :hellyeah:..I figured a tech guy like you would be all over that stuff :eyebrow:
I'm scared of it. :sad3:
Can you download college books with these things?
I've been contemplating getting my oldest daughter one of these who's marching off to college next year.
She's not the type of person to lay around by the fireplace and read a book, but I figured if you could get college books on these things it would be the ultimate tool for a college bound student.
Well.....scratch that.
I found this article (http://www.amazon.com/forum/college/ref=cm_cd_pg_pg1?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx3F0E4VR5LMXQD&cdPage=1&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx3VZYFARVKF53P) which pretty much says...."not happening".
Which kinda sucks. I would think they would target college students with these things.
How stupid. :iroll:
I would suggest checking this out if she/you want to save a ton on textbooks:
http://www.half.ebay.com/
The whole college text books thing is a huge ripoff...i bought all mine here and saved a huge amount of money for partying, beer and clubbing :yoyo:
Never heard of that site :nono: But wow :eyebrow: thanks man :congrats:
Just passing on the savings...I bought my 1st semester of books and the price was outrageous and a girl in one of my classes told me about half.com and I bought all the rest there for my college career and paid about 1/3 of what I was paying at the book store on campus. Of course if you buy a $50.00 book on campus then want to sell it back they might give you like $5.00 for it :argh: :doh2:...If I recall your also cheaper to buy em at Amazon and Barnes & Nobles!
I really like my Kindle!! I'm reading "The girl with the dragon tattoo" series of three books on the Kindle now. The first book was a little slow at the beginning, but now I'm on the third book and can hardly put it down!!

Yeah I dont know what it is but something tells me that "The girl with the dragon tattoo" isnt a college required text book. :laf:
Just finished it, damn good book!
At first I was not interested in the e-book readers. Real books had been good enough for me and I didn't think I would like the Kindle. Then last year my son got me a Kindle for Christmas. I still like real books, but I have have to say that I also like the Kindle very much! It is very convenient to take on trips as you can have lots of books loaded on it in one small package! I also like the ability of ordering new books from my favorite authors and having them downloaded automatically when they become available. I also like being able to change the font size to make reading easier on my old eyes.
I still like real books, but the Kindle is nice too!!

I finished the first book and am on the second now. Stieg Larsson was a hell of a writer. Shame he died so young.
Semp,
Lisbeth Salander is one of the most intriguing characters in modern fiction. The second and third books almost seamlessly tie in together. I too regret the author's passing and regret there will be no further books. There is a rumor that Larsen's longtime lover has a fourth book partially completed on his laptop. But his family insists on getting all the royalties if it is published leaving her with nothing. So until this is resolved, no more Lisbeth??

Don't have an e reader but I have a smart phone with the nook/kindle apps. That being said I spend most of my time reading the hunting forums!
