Ok...I got all the lil monkeys takin care of. And I'm pretty confident they will be thrilled. :yoyo:
I talked the neighbors wife and daughter...eww boy that dont sound good at all does it :doh2: ...into going into Iowa and hitting the mall with me so I could try and find hip cloths and things for them, especially the girls, that wouldnt make me an old fuddy dud of a Dad. :laf:
I think we did pretty dang good
Anyway...with that takin care of and after hours of research and hunting, I went into town and ordered me the Kel-tec P11.
CheaperThenDirt has these guns for 15 to 20 bucks cheaper then anyone, but by the time I pay shipping and tip off an FFL, I'm actually money ahead to buy it right from the FFL...which is what I did.
We did all the paperwork, and they ordered the one I wanted for $225 which I thought was amazing, considering CTD posts them for $215.
I decided to go with the P11 over the previously chosen PF9, mainly because for the same amount of money, I think I'm getting just a bit more gun, even though the size differences are literally 100's of an inch. Plus I like the contour grip of the P11 a lot more.

I've got a Ruger P89 which I carried on a trip to the state capitol last weekend to pick up the girls, just to get a taste of carrying, and while it was a lot more then what I wanted jammed down into my waistline, it wasnt all that miserable.
Which I am glad I had by the way. Had a spook walk up on me in the back of the parking lot in the dark asking for money. :whew: God I hate going there
I stepped out of the truck and said I dont carry cash I carry guns, as I lifted my shirt up.
He said I dont want any trouble, held his hands out in front of him and turned around to walk away.
It wasnt even 10 minutes later I swear, another one walks out of the dark and up to the side of the truck with his hood up, hands in his coat pockets, as I set there in the truck.
I figured sure as hell the first guy sent him out, and I'm about to get shot in the face. Here we go.
I pulled out the P89 and held it between my knees out of site, pointing at the floor of the truck as I hit the power button to roll the window down.
He looks in and says, "Man F&$# you! ...I thought you was someone else". And then he walks away.
He NEVER saw the gun, and I have no idea what his game was. But I was ready to shit myself and the entire cab of the truck. :laf:
Did I ever mention I cant stand going to this Sh!t hole?
Anyway...I was told the P11 would be here in two days. I'm kinda excited to hit the range with it.
Merry Christmas Jim :yoyo:
Congrats on the P11. I picked up one for each member of my family this past summer. They are great little carry guns with a lot of firepower. Merry Christmas to all.
Well Merry Christmas to you. I hope that you continue to be treated this way every year at Christmas.
Jerry
That's a rather small 9mm pistola. Easy to conceal. Did you just tuck it in your waist ban Jimbo, or do you have a IWB holster?
Jim just carries it in his front pant's pocket. That way the girls can use the old Mae West question, "Is that a pistol in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
Jerry
After reading about Jimbo's foray into the city, I'm betting he be all to eager to show them his pistola.
No pun intended nor implied... :laf:
I dont have anything yet Fos. The P11 was ordered tonight, and the Ruger P89 I just tucked in under my belt between my front pocket and say the belt buckle.
The girls claim they are going to buy me an Uncle Mikes IWB Holster...but I'm thinking Dad will be buying it since I have to show them what it is. :laf:
I bought an Uncle Mikes IWB holster for my Ruger LC9. It was bearable but not as comfortable as I would've liked. So I purchaced one of these leather belt slide holsters. It's MUCH more comfortable. It sits high enough on your belt and tight enough to your body that just a T-shirt will conceal it. This same holster will fit your P11.

The P11 is the predecessor to the PF9. It holds 3 more rounds than the PF9 in its double stack magazine. I had one once. Nice gun but I liked the flatter, lighter PF9 more better. :eyebrow:
Thanks for the link Weed. High enough that a shirt will cover it uh? Interesting :congrats:
I thought about asking you that very question Semp. Something told me you knew your way around the Kel-tec 9 brothers a little better then you were leading on. :laf:
Congratulations on a fine pickup Jim!! I'm thinking you're gonna like it a lot more once you get to fire a couple rounds down range with her!! Watcha gonna name her?? Mae?? :eyebrow:

The P11 and PF9 are basically the same gun except for the grip size on the P11 to accomodate that double stack mag. The P11 weighs a little more and is a little wider but is also a little easier to control due to that weight. It just comes down to a matter of preference. I think you will like the P11. ;yes;
Some guys spend their money on alcohol, women, and/or drugs. I spend mine on guns and ammo.
Man Im glad I'm a hillbilly from WV and rarely have to see a city. Glad you made it out alive and didnt have to part nobodys ears Jimbo. A good friend of mine has a PF9 and loves it.
Nice small frame semi ya got there Jimbo. :yoyo: Ya gona wrap it and put it under the tree so you can be all excited on Christmas morning? :innocentwhistle:
If ya do don't shoot the ornaments off the tree. :holdon: While it might sound like fun :wo: you put a lot of holes in the wall behind the tree. :doh2: Not to mention that ya might torque the neighbors off. :madd:
Be safe and I pray that you never have to use it in a defensive situation but if you do may it be used in a way that will let you sleep soundly.
I should wrap it and put it under there. I like that idea :laf:
Then when the kids are opening their stuff, I can be like what the ... :shock2: what the heck is this now? A package for Dad? Who's this from?
:eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Aaaawww just write FROM: alscalls! You know you want to!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
:alscalls: :alscalls:
And don't take any "fancy" gun slinging trick lessons from his edumicated sidekick golfernumnutz! :laf:

Don't shot Santa....
That's a sweet little rig right there!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on the fine pickup of such a beauty!!!!!!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
The Kel-tec P11
Took er to the dump today and run some lead through it, just to get a feel on it. Shot up some junk and kinda enjoyed it.
I'm pretty happy with it. I love the double action only, considering it a CCW. It's got the perfect size grip making it very comfortable.
The 9lb trigger pull coupled with the amount of travel the trigger has is a bit much though. You almost want to stick your finger further into the trigger guard after your about halfway through the trigger pull.
The Ruger P89
My oldest daughter wanted to send some up range too so she did. We brought the Ruger too, I think she likes the Ruger better. :laf:

Nice! Looks like she is having a good time.
One word of caution. Advise her NOT to place her left hand thumb on top of her strong hand. That slide will hurt when it bites. Thumbs should be parallel along the left side of the pistol.
I learned that little rule many, many years ago the hard way. :laf:

What Semp said.... seen more than one newbie with a chunk taken out of there thumb from laying it over like that
:eyebrownod: Good eye. I never noticed her doing that.
She's shot that one before, and I remind her every time she uses it that the slide is going to come back and grab another round before she even knows whether or not she hit her target. So she's careful to keep everything well under but I never paid much to the grip itself.
But the grip is one of the most important aspects of proper form.
Cool video Jim. She's a natural!! :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod: Thanks for sharing & I'm glad you got out to enjoy the day with Katie & burn up some powder!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Looks like a lot of fun for both of you.
