Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, I came on this antler in the road, which had not been there the evening before when I drove the same road. A whitetail had dropped his antler on the road.

Ten miles farther along the same road I came to another antler freshly dropped since the evening before.

The buck's tracks show as well as the the track of a coyote that had come along and sniffed of the antler.

In both places I tracked and circled briefly to see if the other antler had dropped nearby but did not find either. The next evening, Dec. 28, I distinctly heard the sound of antlers clashing within 200 yards of me, as well as some hoof thumping. It sounded exactly like when I rattle antlers. Maybe some bucks knock off their antlers by sparring?
Pretty neat that you found them on the road. I also like the background in the second picture.
