It's an oil sponge. Soaks up petroleum but not water.

That's nuts. I'd like to know the story behind that.
It happened next door yesterday morning in Minnesota.
The video say he got out safely. Lost control of his truck, skidded across traffic, down a little embankment and out onto the frozen pond.

I think one of the articles said 6 to 8 feet. So he got lucky as "L"
