New to this board and new to call making. Thought I would post a pic of 2 duck calls I made from Hawaiian Koa wood. Both are laser engraved with the call sign of a friend, "KARNAGE". I retire in less than a year from the US Navy and hope turning calls will keep me busy, when not testing calls in the field. Spent most my time flying the Lockheed P-3C ORION Anti Submarine Warfare Aircraft, hence the board name Orion. Will post some calls for sale if this one works!!

PS...whered' you get that nice tanned hide? :innocentwhistle:
Al - Thanks for all the help getting started and putting up with an amateur like me!
You are correct, Echo inserts, one single reed and a dual reed. Guess I got the Pic posting right the first time so need to post the other calls... OBTW Jim did the hide last year.
Doug
I need to get a hold of him...have him do some hides for me
YAY!! Welcome Doug!!
Joe
Joe - thanks for your help also!! Two old Pro's got me started. The Old ShopSmith (1960s) is working all right so far. That Koa wood is hard to work with!!! guess you warned me, but looks nice if you spend the time with them. Even harder to work with is the wenge, should have asked before I bough a block of it but I liked the dark color w/ tan grain. Have a piece of cocobolo on the lathe now...
Doug
Orion,
Welcome to Fins and Fur. I think you will like it here. I also think you will like the extra time you will have when you retire.
