These were ordered by Todd a while back and I just got them finished up. He liked the sound of the one I sent to him in his North Bay Conservation Series Set so much he ordered two more. They'll be on their way to Alaska shortly. They are both scaled (2x) versions of a .223 round in Amboyna burl. Had to get that sapwood in there since I know how much you like sapwood Todd
Anyway - here they are... Hope ya like 'em.

Oh and each one has the base from an actual .223 cartridge to serve as the "primer" and the exhaust...

I'm going to have to say that those are the sweetest things since sliced bread. :eyebrow:
Only recently did I ever see such a thing in my life made from wood, and yes they were yours. Very unique, and totally beautiful work.
Nice job, and Todd's gonna be thrilled. :congrats:

WOW!
Your more then welcome to bring them up Jim. If ya catch it right, I'll be off for three weeks for caribou/moose/grouse/ptarmigan hunting, rainbow and grayling fishing, winterizing the home and some other minor stuff.
Well heck, I should just bring them up myself Todd...I'll pick ya up on the way Jim.

Looks like they made it safe and sound Todd!
How do they feel? How do they sound? Give us a review :eyebrow:
I see the Pony Express arrived...I'll take this "" as a good sign.
Just bustin' e'm for ya Jimbo.
Steve
They are freakn terrible!!!!
Nah, they are actually perfect and to good!! They are beautiful beyond what the pic shows, they sound great and the finish is flawless (probably one of the best I have seen).
The only down side is I wanted to use them but I don't know if I can bring myself to do it? :innocentwhistle:
I'm still interested in a jet black ebony one if ya ever do one!
Thanks!!
Well heck Todd, I can make you an ugly call if you want. I don't mess around much with ebony anymore. It tends to crack to much for my liking. I can do an African Blackwood if you want, but I'll need to make a wood run first. Let me know if you want one and I'll try to give you some kind of time frame. It will be a few weeks at least. And thank you kindly for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it.
Steve
Lol, no ugly calls please!!!!! Its just really hard for a collector to get a hunting call from one of his favorite call makers. Especially when ya keep making them nicer. :innocentwhistle:
No special trip but if ya come across a piece that is black as night and you can put the same finish on it, count me in all day long.
Sounds good Todd...I may come across something when I finally get around to cleaning up the shop. I'll let ya know if I do.
Thanks again,
Steve
