Got assigned to the Rush fire in Norther California, left West Yellowstone yesterday and got here this afternoon, this morning the fire was 204,000 acres now it is 234,000 acres. Assigned as a Task Force Leader think I'll be on this one for awhile.
Good luck and stay careful.
Pat
I really do appreciate what you do, but I also really wish that you didn't have any work to do. Stay safe.
Jerry
Thanks guys, I will do my best to be safe. Hoping to make enough money this summer so I can make it to the LBL this year.
30,000 acres in a few hours :whew:
You got your hands full but we know you can handle it. Apparently someone else does too.
:doh2: You went out to put it out & now it's bigger???? :laf: :laf:
Good Luck & stay safe my Friend!!!!!!! We'll be thinking about you!!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Can't imagine what it'd be like. Good luck and be safe.
It got alot bigger today, north side of the division i was working in, i was on the south side. Smoke column was ice capping. Heard on the radio fire was two miles wide and moving. My side held but the wind was in my favor.
Stay safe, wish you all the best.
Still getting bigger, winds shifted and came my direction. Its now 317,600 acres. But there is an end in site. Plan for tomorrow is fly us in with enough MRE's and water for three days, and put indirect handline while burning out as we progress, so we have good black to get into if something should go wrong. Gonna be a few days without cell service, but will keep you guys up dated when I come out. Have some photos on my phone, can't seem to post them though.
Their talking about that fire on our local news too. Looks like a nasty situation.
Stay safe Chris
Stay safe Chris!! We all know the best is on this one!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Postponed until tomorrow when winds are in our favor, one more night in spike camp. Cell service! !!
Be safe!!!!!!!
Fire is now 42 miles long 16 wide, but the end is in sight, getting closer to pinching this end.
Maybe two more shifts and we will get herwrapped. Headed to camp for dinner, have not had a shower in 8 days, to tired to take one tonight.
OOOOooo thats got to be a lovely aroma. :laf:
That might make a nice coverup scent though for calling coyotes. :sneer:
Nor-cal, I can't express much I admire you and your work. Fighting range fires in sage and wheat was the hardest work I've ever done in my life and I've never forgotten either the sweat nor the danger. Be safe as you wrap up this big one.
Well we got line around it, if we can hold it through this wind event for the next two days. There are a ton of green islands with heat in them in the interior. Over 200 miles of line, with all of fingers and turns. Fuel types are pinion juniper ans sage brush. Seeing a ton of coyotes and tracks.
Sounds like you're things are going your way now Chris!! Hang in there!! We're pulling for you good folks from over East here!!!!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
One more shift then I head to Montana, a shower and two days off. Got some good photos of fire and a thirsty coyote, I got within thirty feet of, they are cell phone photos.
We dont mind :nono: bring em on!
