Title: House renovation #2
Post by: HaMeR on August 21, 2012, 06:25:09 PM
For those in attendance I will now cover the front of the house. What a job this ended up being. We knew there was gonna be some extra work here & luckily it turns out we are satisfied with it. We still have some touchups to do. The North side is 1/3 done. Saturday we will have up to the middle of the window done on that side as well. Then it's just about waiting to rent the lift to finish. And I am taking the Cherry tree down on the right side of the house. We will be planting a nice red Maple out front I think.

And now on to what you're all waiting for,,,, the pictures!!  :laf: :laf:

Nice work.  The last picture looks like the house has two eyes (top windows) and an open mouth (door).

Thanks guys.

:eyebrownod: @ Jerry!!

The front porch was for some reason already pitched that way. I would like to move it up about 8" to steepen it up but I doubt I have that much ambition.  :nono:  The upper roof is about a 10/12. It doesn't show in the pics but she rises purdy quick. I can just about almost try to walk up it with good shoes.

Looks like you did a nice job.  Were'd you find that lighted address sign in the last pic?

Man, that must have been some job jacking the right side of the house up like that.  Looks like in pic 2 you got it a bit high.  I notice in last picture tho, you got er done.  Ha!
Seriously, it looks like you did a good job.  I've tackled siding jobs myself and have come to the conclusion, if I need it done again, I'll leave it to the pro's.  I like a front porch to sit and rock on with my favorite cup of coffee.
Looking Good!

Thanks Dave!! Those are reflective numbers that caught the camera flash from about 15yds away. I got them from Menards. We put them on a nice routered plaque & painted it with the Bronze trim paint to contrast with the Clay on the siding & hoping they would show up very well after dark if the occasion should ever arise.

Thanks Whitehare!! Yeah I musta jacked that right side up a little further than I had planned on going!!  :laf: :laf:  I'm gonna call about the Cedar siding we have on order & hopefully we can pick it up today.
