I finally got back after em on Tuesday morning. Cool nights have water temps dropping. Still to hot in lakes but this river was at 78 degrees.
This fish hit a topwater and absolutly came outa nowhere, clear outa the water on the strike at boatside. Scared the sheet outa me!! I just about threw my pole :laf: Due to hi water temps I hadnt been out since the first of June so needless to say this ol girl made my day.
I set the 10 sec timer on my cam and picked her up for a quick pic and she just about jumped out of my hands. Thats why her gills are flaired. Cam snapped pic just when it happened lol. She was not hurt at all and swam off like a bullet.

I friggin love it!!!!!!
Congratulations, :congrats: I'd love to catch one someday.
Pat
This same day I was throwing about a 4oz jerkbait that was about 7 inches long with a big plastic curly tail. I was working the bait over a log jam when the Girtha of all smallmouths appeared and bit the tail off my jerkbait. I have caught 5lb smallies and this one was bigger. Jimbo would have fell over and started quivering :eyebrownod: Was one of the biggest smallies I had ever seen. I threw back at it with other baits but couldnt bring him back up. Was a genuine Hawg!!! This little river isnt really known for big bass but I know where a state record class fish is hiding. My next trip I will have some gear with me so maybe I can see him again. I dont even have to catch him lol.
:bowingsmilie: :bowingsmilie: Another 40"+ catch?? :yoyo: :yoyo:
Nah this one didnt quite reach the 40 mark. Id say mid 30's. Didnt wana stress her out more by measuring her since she already bout jumped outa my hand. If the water would have been a bit cooler I would have. As soon as the pic snapped She went back in the water to swim off and scare the life outa someone else lol.
Nice!!!
Another beauty !
Still a darn nice catch Denver!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
