Title: Albino Coyote
Post by: FinsnFur on September 05, 2012, 09:09:12 PM
Anyone see the Albino Coyote pictures submitted by a reader in October's issue of Predator Xtreme?
It says their from Central Pennsylvania.
Man, a hide like that hanging in the living room would be the new definition of 'Sweet' :eyebrow:

Jimbo, I scared one so bad one time it seemed to turn white right in front of my eyes.  Does that count?   :alscalls: :alscalls:  Seriously, several years ago, there was a litter of squirrels living in a water maple tree in front of old St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky., and all 6 were as white as white rats.  The Lexington Leader used to take pictures of them as they grew up and ran a special article.  It was cool to see them, as I have never seen a white squirrel in the wild.

I seen that article, my daughter even mentioned to me, "That would be a great first coyote dad." I have never seen one in the wild, though I did kill one that had hair the color of Carrie Underwood, very blonde. Maybe I will get lucky one day, I've called up and killed bunches of black ones.

About 20 years ago, I had a conversation with an animal biologist, and he said that at that time, there were 26 recognized sub species of coyotes.  Among those, was one named "Montana Pale", a light pure blonde animal with beautiful coat.  I killed one in Barren County on the same farm that Weedwalker Ed hunted with me one time, that weighed 52 lbs. and was a beautiful example of Montana Pale.  It seems that black coyotes are far more common in the southern states, as this recent one was my first typical coyote with black fur and white chest. I killed one several years ago that was light charcoal, and I believed then and still do that he was a coydog.  I'm hunting for a candy striped one now, and will have to get that rascal full body mounted if and when I get him.

I saw a pure white one about 3 years ago. I was calling, and it came in to 90 yards with 2 other "normal" colored coyotes. I was hunting with a shotgun, so I never got a shot.
