A friend and I paddled a glacial river and into a lake for three days over last weekend. Saw two bears, two otters, eagles, salmon, big red headed woopecker, lotta mountains.

Black bear swimming the river, on far right of first photo and then getting out on the bank. From sign on shore, we think he was fleeing a big grizzly.

Morning of day two. Before sunrise some big animal walking in the brush nearby woke us up.

Crushed boat at our second night's camp site. Somebody had a bad day here. Creek running into Lillooet Lake.

The creek comes out of the glacier in the pic below, looking back at our campsite.

Dawning light on day three: the campfire is for cheer and warmth while a backpack stove brews coffee. Codgers wake up early!

Our stopping place 300 yards from a logging road. Lots more water to paddle that direction but we opted to stop in early afternoon rather than risk fighting wind to the next take out point.

Whats underneath that log?..the front end of a boat?
Your bottom three pictures are so sweet they look like something you'd see in a travel brochure :eyebrow:
Looks like a dang good time, and relaxing. Thanks for sharing the trip with us. :congrats:
Thanks for the ride along. I like that pic with the campfire and background. :congrats:

Yep, that's a ten foot skiff crushed under the log. It is all drift wood and I don't think the log fell on it when it was a tree, but rather that they both washed in there at high water somehow.
Here's a slightly different angle that shows the boat better. Wonder if there is a skeleton in the boat under the log! Mystery.
