Title: 11' 2" sturgeon caught 5 miles from my house
Post by: Okanagan on October 12, 2012, 08:08:39 PM
Today's local paper had a headline banner photo at the top of the front page with a photo of a huge sturgeon with six men in the water holding it.  It is 11 feet two inches to the fork, which would make it well over 12 feet the way I would measure it.   Caught Sept. 29.  Abbotsford Mission Times

Wow!  I can't even imagine a fish that big!   Plus the article said it was over 100 years old and weighed about 750 pounds.   And it said it wasn't even a record.   They sure grown 'em big up north!   :shock2:

"we saw the first five feet and knew it was quite significant"

I think this might be an understatement.  May she continue to lay eggs for another hundred years.

Wow, that is one heck of a fish. :holdon:
I'm surprised it remained calm enough for them to get a picture like that. One twitch could send all them boys slinging through the air. :laf:
Sturgeon are highly regulated up here.
