Taking the oldest boy hunting in Iowa for a few days. Should see some huge bodied Northern deer. Biggest buck I've even taken was in Northern Missouri, and we'll be hunting not far from the Mo boarder.
Good luck to you and the boy FO.
Good luck, and have a great time.
Pat
Good luck to you both...hunt safe and have fun!!
Best of luck FOs!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Iowa's got some big Deer, unless Scott shot em all.
Of course our are bigger but :innocentwhistle:
Be safe and enjoy yourselves. When ya headin?
We fly out tomorrow morning. Weather forecast predicts mild temperatures and dry.
Yeah you'll be several hours south of me, but they are calling for close to 60 here. So you'll be in tropical temps :laf:
Have a good time and I hope a BIG one walks in front of your son.
Jerry
lol Nope I haven't shot em all. Especially this year. I've seen a few nice ones,
but not even a sighting or a picture of a BIG one yet.
I'll probably be pretty busy the next few days too, not exactly sure where you're
headed, I live in Carroll, basically west central part of the state.
Best of luck to ya !
Yes, good luck and have a great time with your son.
Shotgun season opened this morning in Iowa, and it sounded like WWIII till noon! The hunting Gods smiled BIG upon my son. We spied a buck laid down in some heavy cover. Almost missed spotting him as all we could initially see was his antlers.
Made a quick stalk closer, threw the binox up and almost sheit myself. Got the boy in position on some shooting sticks and told him if he could see the shoulder to drill him. 70 yards and the brute died in his bed.

My son is still in a state of shock and euphoria. Biggest buck by far either of us has ever shot. We grossed scored him at 190 5/8
:yoyo: :bowingsmilie: :highclap: WOW WHAT A STUD!!
Was ya using an outfitter?
Nope. Small 500 acre farm I was graciously invited to hunt with my son.
:yoyo: WHAT A BUCK!!! Congrats to you and the boy on a great hunt!
That is one AWESOME buck. Tell your son congratulations - when he calms down.
Jerry
Quite spreadin it around ! We really don't have bucks like that in Iowa ! :innocentwhistle:
Seriously though, VERY nice ! and A big congratulations ! :highclap: :highclap:
Tough huntin for us today, Very foggy.
Scott,
Which part of Iowa are you in? I'm hunting outside Bloomfield which is near the Missouri boarder.
Deer are running around like crazy. Seems the most popular method in this area is to conduct a deer drive.
Ditto, the thick fog and zero sunshine has been a real nuisance.
Congrats on an awesome buck and the conditions you were forced to hunt in ......I wanna say Aaron  Is that Aaron?
If it is, he's growing up faster than I can keep up
FOs, tell your son "congratulations" on a fantastic buck! :highclap: Lets see if the "Old Man" can one up him? Way to go guys!
Dave
WOOOWWW!!! Incredible buck, FOs - tell your son great job! :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:
What a whopper!!
Jim
No Jimbo, that's not my youngest boy. That one is my oldest boy Joe. We didn't have any fog yesterday, but this morning was extremely thick. It's just now lifting.
Dang doe here are bigger (heavier) than our bucks in Texas!

Jim,
In Texas, the deer resemble our women. Petite.....but with a big rack! :eyebrow:

What are your plans for it.
Going to shoulder mount. Full sneak with the ears slightly back.
I like that 3rd pic from the bottom...Id frame it and hang it with my mount.
I'd vote for the second to last one!
Congrats again to both of you, but especially your son.
Nice buck !!
