Looks like a great day to me! How did we get this old? You are looking prime, not looking old yet! I never thought that I'd live this long.
Is that one you kept for lunch a sauger or a walleye? Can't see the lower tip of its tail to tell. We caught a lot of sauger in Saskatchewan that looked like that, tended a little more brown than the average walleye. Superb eating either way.
Two grandsons should arrive here any minute from Philadelphia. We have a week of adventure planned for six and three year olds. I told them there was a rumor of buried treasure in this neighborhood, and that we should keep an eye out for a treasure map. Map is made, leading from a local playground back to our garden, where a wooden treasure box of gold foil wrapped chocolate coins is already buried. OK, I'll admit that I'm the one having fun. Then a day on a shallow creek to roast hot dogs, a day at a beach. And if salmon season opens, we will see if the six year old can land a salmon like several of his cousins have at that age. Cody got a big chum salmon out of a creek with me when he was five. Would have taken the rod away from him or pulled him in I think without a little help. Started him right!
Thats a Sauger. But I have caught Walleye that didnt have the white tip on their tails due to it being ground. I assume from fanning the bottom while bedding for laying their eggs. So I dont rely soley on the white tip any more. I look for the spotted dorsal. Actually they'll have spots on their bodies also, much larger spots obviously then the dorsal will.
Walleyes have what appear to be a series of saddles across the top of their backs, instead of any spots, and no spots on the dorsal.
The treasure hunt sounds like it's going to be a fun for them. Well and for Grampa too. :sneer: Sounds like the type of things I did when the kids were littler too.
Good luck on the Salmon run :congrats:
I was wondering the same thing - Sauger or Walleye. I'm sure it was good.
That's a great pic of the heron. I'm jealous of that camera!
Okan, sounds like you're in for a blast. Chocolate coins! That would be a treasure in my book, too!
Looks like you had a good time and even picked up a nice fish at the fish store to eat. :shock2: As for your new camera - you are having way too much fun with it. You are going to need to scale that WAY back. :sick2:
Jerry
Looks like you had a good day fishing Jim!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
 Well that is IF your truck started.

BTW-- That's just camera flash. Next time turn the flash off before you give the tourist the camera. :laf: :laf:

NOT buying this reply.

I'm not either...and since there was no tourist I set the camera on the hood of the truck for that pic.
I mean if it's not going to start I might as well use it as a tripod. :laf:
Unless you lost a wheel, :rolleye: I think it is a quad pod.
