Forgot I had this one on the camera from the 29th. Hooked this one in the early morning fog.
Looking at his fins...they got some red in them too but not quite as vivid as the one Katie caught. I'm not even sure what causes that. Guess I never noticed it much.
What'rya thinking?

I don't know Jim. It's interesting though.

Couple of questions: What's the biggest NP you've caught? Do you eat them?
Pat
The biggest one I ever caught was 42" inches I think. Jeez now that I think about it, that was better then 10 years ago.
The one thing I clearly remember about it was the fact that once I got him landed I had such an adrenaline dump, it buckled me over. I thought I was gonna puke...I wanted to puke. Hey I love to fish and I was pretty stoked up.
I eat them. They are a nice white meat like Walleye, but I wont normally bother with anything less the 32 inches. Sometimes for a little treat if it's been a while since I had any but otherwise I turn em loose.
I like them too, but struggle with the y-bones. Do you fillet them out or just take the meat from behind the bones on those bigger fish? I've watched videos on how to get the bones out, but haven't been able to make it work yet. I usually just cook them with the bones in and then pick them out by hand after cooking.
Pat
Yah I struggle with them too. The bigger ones I'll fillet around the whole row of Y bones.
Dont know if you know it or not, but from the rear dorsal fin back to the tail, theres a couple 100% bone free fillets there. :eyebrow:
