Our second annual Wolf Hunt in Wisconsin is blazing away with incredible results again this year.
Last year the DNR allowed the harvest of 117 wolves. The state was broken into 6 zones and certain numbers allowed from certain zones etc.
This year they upped it to 251. Season opened Oct 15th and we've harvested a total of 181 to date and closed three zones due to maxing them out.
I'm having the time of my life monitoring this wolf season. I just wished I lived a little further North to get into some of the better action which would justify me applying for a tag.
I think I mentioned this before, but if not... I started a website and a facebook page for it also last year and am getting some pretty good results so far. The forum is kinda dead, but most of these guys are putting their stuff on facebook.
It's keeping me busy gathering the data, contacting the DNR, etc, but hey it's kinda fun

Yes, really interesting.
I've seen one jet black wolf, beautiful creature.
Great site, enjoyed it. Jim if you lived a little further north I would have to come visit.
Thanks.
Yah I've been enjoying it. And John, you or anyone else is more then welcome up here. We've only sold 11 non resident wolf tags this year...out of 1820.
Someday I'm gonna have my name on one of those tags. :eyebrow:
Hello all lomg time
Michigan is also openning wolf this year, 43 wolf will be taken. I am leaving sunday to head to the u.p. to meet brother-inlaw to try to call in some wolfs. It will end fast so I am hoping 5 days of scouting will pay off and my brother-inlaw lives up there and he has been on the prowl for wolfs for months. So I am hoping we can get a wolf or two but a safe and fun trip is all I ask. Hoping to hit some steelhead on the way back home.
Good hunting
Happy Holidays
Troy
Good luck Troy.
Pat
Yes, good luck, Troy. Call smart, think smart and shoot straight! Hope you post up a pic of a big wolf.
Welcome back and definitely good luck to ya Troy. :congrats:
Im still trying to wrap my head around some of these harvest quotas. I'm glad to see Michigan is allowing a season, this is our second one here.
Michigan, on our right side, with a total harvest quota of 43 statewide and spread out over three zones.
Minnesota, on our left, with a total harvest quota of just over 100. Also spread out over three zones.
And here we set in the middle with a harvest quota of 251 wolves
Well no wolfs, heading back up again. Leave it to Michigan to mess it up. They have two states that run a wolf season right next door on there own season so what does MDNR they put it during gun season. Now we got gut piles and a butt load of hunter, and they wonder why they have only shoot 7 wolfs. Did get a couple of private property to hunt and using a lot of wolf sounds had a pack of four or five really pissed about 60 yards away but ran out of light.
All our zones are now closed except one Troy, and they are having some major trouble pulling any wolves out of it, despite it being the second highest quota zone in the state. Feel free to come over and help these guys out :yoyo:
The 2013 Wisconsin Wolf Hunt ended last night at 5:00pm with a total harvest quota of 251 wolves. :yoyo:

It's a bit concerning how many people will not post pics of their harvest cause the antis are creating such an incredible wave in all this. Some even wanted their faces blurred out which REALLY drew the attention from the antis heckling them and threatening on the fan page. :rolleye:
Nice pics and awesome to see Wisconsin allowing wolf hunts. Predator control in my eyes is a essential part of wildlife management and ensures the future for our heritage. Sad to see the Anti's acting like that. They should mind their own business. That's the problem with America today, everyone else thinks they know whats best for you.
