Title: Proud Poppa
Post by: JohnP on December 16, 2013, 03:24:23 PM
If ya’ll remember the pictures of my grandson when he started taking karate lesson here is an update.  He now has his green belt and will soon be tested for blue.  A couple of nights ago there was a long sword and short sword competition.  He had only started his sword lessons two days before the contest but came in third.

I think what had spurred him to do well was the following two pictures.

His kid brother, 4 years old, just signed up a few weeks ago and came in second in the short sword.

On the way home he asked me if he could have my black belt.  Told him I had already promised it to his older brother.  He thought about that for a little bit then replied.  You can start all over again and get another one. He is on the left, picking his nose :rolleye:

Nothing like a cute girl to keep a boy interested in going to class.    :big grin:

It is a great sport and one that could come in handy if needed.  Since Grandpa has his black belt my advice would be to not mess with Grandpa.

It's great to see they are taking such interest in the things that will help them take care of themselves & their Families later on in life. I wish them all the best. And it looks like you have a cute Grand Daughter in law as well!!  :laf: :laf:

Glad to see you enjoying your grandkids, especially in something so healthy and useful.  They will look up to you all of their lives and remember your time with them now.

Cute girls were my only reason for going to school as a lad, and my father putting his big boot on an impact course with my arse! Ha ha
