Have any of you ever howled and had a coyote answer you by screaming. A very raspy rough howl-like bark? I hear this occasionally and I wonder why they do this. Is this a very aggressive response. "Hey, this is my turf, get out!" Seems like this should be an easy kill but has turned out to be tough to call in. Or could this just be a very old coyote?
Your thought???

Screaming a very raspy howl like bark?? Just one howl like bark???
If they keep doing it...and remember Im no pro...it sound like a "F*&^ you Charlie" howl. Meaning you just got busted. And no...you wouldnt call them in since they just busted ya.
What kind of call was you using when he howled back at you? I would have tried a challenging call back at him and see what happen. cc
I don't usually howl, primarily because I'm not good at it. However when I do use a howler or any distress sound and get a howl I "try" to respond in kind. Doesn't always bring them in but most of the time it does. But to answer your question no I never have heard what you are describing. Would appreciate it if you stayed away from using the word "old"
It sounds just like the "FoxPro Coyote scream," if your familier with this sounds.

challenge howl maybe?? I cant imagine Foxpro having a "your busted" call on their caller...but
FoxPro offers a Coyote Pup Screams which is good for your KiYi to be used in conjunction with Foxbang. They also offer a Coyote Male Challenge Scream. If you don't have a clue when to use that particular sound, you would be better off not having it.
