That Mountain Lion needs to go to Africa and take some lessons.  He missed the windpipe and a quick kill.

Wow!  Incredible footage. That cat took on a tough challenge.  They manage to kill some elk and sometimes a moose but it must be a tough job on the bigger critters.

The two cougar kills I have examined when they were fresh enough to tell what happened, the cougar has bitten the back of the deer's neck and severed its spine close behind the head.  But blacktails are smaller deer than this big mule deer.  It probably depends on the size of the particular cougar's bite compared to the size of the deer's neck.

One cougar I tracked jumped on the back of a smaller mule deer than this one in the video and rode it down a snow slope.  The cat killed it on the way down and the deer fell and slid with the cat still on its back.

Great video.  Thanks for posting that.

Mountain lions are pretty efficient killers.  The old wives tale about the weak and sick is another myth that this video debunks.  Out here they kill some rather nice coues right after and during the rut as the bucks are interested in does and after the rut are in a weakned condition.

Thanks for posting that video really enjoyed it.
