I mean >> :alscalls: :alscalls:
When I was a lad growing up in Vermont tagging along with all the adults hunting and fishing they all either drank old milwaukee or Schlitz beer!
My Pa drank Schlitz. I can remember it like it was yesterday when I was a wee one. The scrolls on each side of the logo near the top of the can looked like ghosts to me. That always intrigued me.

Don't be hating on me now just because I was a lunker chunker from the beginning...as I recall when I hooked that leviathan one-handed, in my other hand I had an ice cold frosty tasty refreshing and delicious Pabst Blue Ribbon!
P.S. Ya want one now doncha
:laf: Yah I do
The hell with all these newfangled custom yuppie microbrewery beers, I am going to the market and hunt me down some old-fashioned classic beers like old Milwaukee,, PBR etc.
I dare ya :eyebrownod:
I love Old Mil....but only if it's marginal freezing temps
When the weather warms up here about the end of July I am going to hold a classic beer barbecue and tell everyone no custom beers nothing but old school and anybody who brings new fangled beer it's going to be evicted from the property! I think I'm onto something here, a franchise of classic beer barbecues!
Every time I look at that picture of the Schlitz beer it takes me back to sitting out in the garage as a kid with my brothers and my father and his brothers and friends and watching them skin out beaver in there and stuff like that, pipe smoking, cigarettes, and Schlitz beer.
yup them old steel cans you needed a church key to get into...
Yupp haha they worked great for patching up a hole in your exhaust too!
HaHa!! I've done that before when I read that it was like a flash back in time!
Schlitz, sure does bring back some memories, not all good. If you seen the old John Wayne movie "Green Beret" do you remember the young Sgt who was the scrounger? I think every A Team had one and our team had one of the best. At least once every month we would send him out on a mission - find use something to make our lives more pleasant in a very unpleasant environment, he never failed, except once. He had sent him out on a scrounging mission and he had been gone for about two days when we got a call on our secure line. Seems he got hooked up with some guys from a rather large supply depot who wanted to do some trading. A pallet of beer for some genuine VC black pajamas, crossbows and NVA Flags plus some other things. We told him to seal the deal we had all the stuff he needed, said he would be back to base camp tomorrow with the beer then fly back to Nha Trang with the "souvenirs." Following day about daybreak we heard the chopper coming in with a pallet swinging under it. We were ecstatic - that is until we pulled the cover off the pallet and found it was Schlitz. We did keep the beer but it lasted forever. Terrible stuff, even in a war zone.
Hahaha! Great story, John :alscalls: :alscalls:
Thanks Dave, got more Army stories than I could ever tell.
