Yeah I been wanting one since they came out!! :eyebrow: :eyebrow:
Did you order? :eyebrow:
Maybe the highly lucrative FnF forum will sponsor a couple rifles for us to try out and evaluate :innocentwhistle:
Haven't ordered one yet but I'm having a real hard time not ordering one!!  Besides nasty & myself are waiting for the FnF forum to get ours out to us so we can wring em out quick. We'll pass em along just as soon as we feel they are safe & worthy of the critique they will receive from the masses that we know here!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
I did get to fondle one a couple months ago at a gun shop. The owner had one there to look at & fondle & was taking orders for them. He was also about $60 higher than the other shops that had a waiting list.
I like the CZ 512 also :yoyo:

Glen,
I got my FnF version of this rifle about a week ago. I think all of the moderators will be getting a 'sample' one to test out. For the test, I don't plan to use mine for anything but groundhogs. So far none have come into my yard (unlike HuntNCarve) to give it a test. Till that groundhog shows up I will just keep shooting some of the other rifles that we have been sent to test out. :laugh2:
Jerry
Jerry, seems you got yours a few days before mine arrived. I been using mine on coyotes (two legged) it does not seem to have the knock down power I'm looking for in a coyote gun. Most of the ones I have shot at and hit run south after they are hit. Could it be that Savage has placed homing devices in this new weapon???

John,
That is probably a good thing. If they run off you don't have to skin them - which is always messy and time consuming.

Check with Jim. I believe he has several of them. Or at least his name was on the return address for the one that came here. Maybe it is a Ford/Chevy thing between you two. :alscalls:

There's only 11 of these left to be sent out for member testing. But these wont be sent out until after our annual server fund drive is over do to high shipping costs.

So is the goal $5,000 like ______ ? Or should we raise it this year?
Jerry
Well if that's all it takes I'll send you a damn check!! But you can't cash it for 120 days!! :innocentwhistle: :innocentwhistle:
Give or take a couple weeks that is. :alscalls: :alscalls:
Could I barter for mine? Couple of catfish, nice six pack of Pabst blue ribbon, etc. :innocentwhistle:
Pabst still makes beer? :puke:
I sure hope so, I would rather have a good cold pabst blue ribbon then a honey wheat strawberry chocolate latte Laotian Russian Chinese microbrewery custom beer. :yoyo:
What the hell is this country coming to?! Not only is Pabst blue ribbon owned by Russians now another loss of an American icon, but it has also turned into a yuppie beer!

PHhhhewwwww... glad I don't rate testing one of these... I hate to think I'd like it more then my 17 Hornet... :nono:
"honey wheat strawberry chocolate latte Laotian Russian Chinese microbrewery custom beer"...roflamo! :alscalls:
I bet the BATFE would love to see this thread now!!!! :alscalls: :alscalls:
I think I need to brush up on being a yuppie! Last Friday me and my honey we're going through the drive-through at Starbucks so she's ordering some coffee drink, skinny moose milk cream truffle latte veggie shaken stirred coffee concoction, so when I'm up to bat I say yeah can I just get a large black coffee, the lady on the speaker whom im told is not just a drive-through attendant but a barista, said a large black Vente? I said what is a Vente? And she said a large cup of coffee, so I said OK well that's what I would like a large cup of black coffee and she said OK one large black Vente. At that point my copilot herefore known as short mean and mouthy, was glaring daggers at me so I surrendered to polite society and pulled up and paid for our coffees and continued our Friday morning journey. :innocentwhistle:
WTH, I think I just hijacked my own thread?! :innocentwhistle: :yoyo:
I don't drink coffee but if I did I think I would like a double moca latte diet mountain dew. Now back to the 17 hmr I think you should send one to Glen! He wife could teach him how to use it. Lol.[emoji6] isn't hmr short for hamer its got his name man give him one.

I am torn between the A17 and the CZ512, maybe Jimbo can get us one of each?
I almost bought the cz512 in 22 mag. Until I found a sweet rem 597 in 22mag used for half price.
It looks like a great gun and haven't heard anything bad about cz.

My long time go to .22 Long rifle is a Remington 597 ! thing is a tack driver.
I have a CZ 527 carbine in .223, beautiful rifle and a shooter. I am definitely a CZ fan.
I had the A17 in my hands a few days ago. While part of me wanted to buy it the other part of me said its cheaply built. There didn't seem to be anything solid about it, the plastic stock seemed at best CHEAP, and the barrel had that cheesy glossy blue finish that looked poorly done. I was not impressed at all. :nofgr:
I have been reading quite a few bad reviews about it also.
So I stopped at a local gun shop today and lo and behold on the rack was one lone single a17 rifle! Asking price was $399 and it had a tag that said last of surplus rifles. I held it looked it all over I thought it looked pretty decent felt pretty good, kind of heavy. And then back on the shelf she went. They also have the ammunition for it $51 for a 200 round box. I have read quite a few reviews on it and it seems to have some issues with functioning and the magazine falling out. I will hold off for now and wait and see if they shake out the bugs. Right beside it I also saw a bmag rifle which looks just about like the a17 for $350. Neither one of them has impressed me enough to pull the trigger no pun intended. :innocentwhistle:
A17 at walmart, $383.00
Now Savage just came out with a .22 Magnum , the A22:

Its about time.

Keeping up with the Jones's :eyebrownod:
Might have to check that A22 out. I had a savage 22mag bolt but the magazines were very finicky. Hope they improved the ones on the A22.
I also want to handle the KelTec CMR-30 rifle. It uses the same 30 round mag as the PMR-30 pistol. That gun is a LOT of fun to shoot!
And they finally have some of those for sale, CMR-30?
They get one or two in at a time at my local dealer. They last about 30 seconds before they are gone. Sort of like the way the pistols used to be.
I really wanted a PMR 30 I know were 2 are but I haven't seen enough 22 mag ammo in store to buy one.
I've got about 6 box's saved up and have 3 -22 magnums.

I just bought me a Smith & Wesson Victory .22 pistol :yoyo:
Didnt see that coming at all Nasty :innocentwhistle:
Dammit Dan!! Ammo or not I'd be all over one of those!! Haven't seen one of those around here yet!!
If you don't have one by next LBL, Glen, I'll bring mine and you can take it for a test drive. It is pretty accurate and EATS 22 mag ammo. :laf:

:laf: I bet it does!! That's the closest I've been to one right here!! Now I know what they look like for real. :laf: :laf:
 what the actual hell just happened here?

Nasty,
I haven't held the S&W but one of the guys at the Fish and Game said that he will have one by the next meeting. He hopes it will shoot equal to his Ruger. Personally I think he just wanted another pistol.
Jerry
Damn I like that :eyebrownod:
Some of this gun's features include a removable interchangeable match barrel, Picatinny-style rail, fiber-optic front sight and adjustable fiber-optic rear sight, two 10-round magazines, and textured grip panels with finger cuts for easy magazine removal.
I had never heard of them until a few weeks ago when a buddy from work got one and he really likes it. I like how easy it is to take down and also how easy it is to pop on the picatinny rail that came with it for optics. It has really nice fiber-optic sights on it also. I can see the gray squirrels dropping already come fall.
I stiiill like it :eyebrow:
If you're like me and have to talk yourself into buying anything just think you could pass that pistol on down to your daughters and granddaughter :yoyo:
So pry that floorboard up, haul that dusty bundle of money out and get to pistol shopping Mr.! :innocentwhistle:
I cant remember which floor board :doh2:
