Title: Fiddle playing hunter
Post by: Okanagan on January 06, 2017, 01:24:00 PM
Over Christmas a treat for my wife and me was a “concert” at grandson Code's house.  Code's brother, Jon, played his fiddle for friends and neighbors, accompanied by his Dad on a 12 string guitar.  The music was good, with lots of friends and I could gaze around the big open room at three record book elk racks, a seven foot black bear hide plus several other deer, elk and antelope racks.  The fiddle player tagged two of the record book elk and the biggest one of all was Code's from this recent Fall.

I don't think that we have posted the following link of Jon playing his violin on the beach and rocky cliffs while Code filmed and recorded him.  They filmed this nearly two years ago when I think Jon had been playing for less than a year, with only a few months of lessons at the start.  He's a lot better now, and has drifted toward a more raw fiddle sound.  In this video he is using a playback machine that lets him accompany himself a few bars behind what he just played.

Very cool video!
Is they're anything your family doesn't do good?

Yes, but I favor what they do well.

WOW! That was nice :congrats: The country, the terrain, just blows me away. And the fiddle emphasizes it all. Very nicely done.
LOOOove the drone :eyebrow:

Okanagan you are some very talented hunters and entertainers!
I would love to be able to hunt with to see if some of your skills rubbed off.

You and HuntnCarve have amazing kids!

Good bunch of people around this place raising kids with some decency and lasting values.  Skills come downstream from that, due mostly to the work they put into life.  There is an active campaign hitting them from all sides to drop the values and drift with the flow of current pop culture.  It is harder to grow up reasonably straight than when I was their age.

Don't know if I should mention it but last week he pulled out a banjo and said that he has started learning to play it. I never learned to play anything.  Some people have a knack or gift for music and he has it.  He and his Dad have been busking at a trendy little old time country store near their place, and the store owner would like them to play more often.  I haven't made it to the store when they are playing.

That's awesome! I'm sure they will excel at what ever they put they're mind to.
Keep on them to steer away from the idiots in society!
They are on track to make this country great again.
