Title: Virginia Tech Massacre (At least 21 dead)
Post by: Jrbhunter on April 16, 2007, 01:59:47 PM
What a horrible day in American History.... a tragedy indeed.   Lots of questions need to be answered, mainly how dozens of people could be killed over a two hour period without police intervention!!!!!

So many lives ended before they had much more than just started, and the uncountable lives that have been changed forever by the actions of one.   Death was too easy for that person.   Our world continues to changed, and no question it is only going to get much worse.

In my college days at UCB during the late 60's, the terrorists were law enforcement dropping tear and mustard gas bombs and battering mostly peaceful antiwar protesters.   That is until National Guardsmen killed a few students protesting at Kent State in 1970.   I had left the SF Bay Area by then, but heard the protests at UCB got a lot more violent from both sides after that incident.   Don't remember any deaths though.

It's a sad day for all Americans.

This is a real tragedy. And the media will make it out to be the gun companys fault.

Bopeye, why should god help us when the people of this country have turned their back on him?The idiots in Washington make laws such as not allowing prayer in school.Meanwhile the rest of us just go on and blame it on them. But noone does anything about it.I am just as guilty as the rest.Sure i bitch and moan about it but i dont do anything usefull.I dont think that this country is what our forefathers intended it to be.I think they would be shocked to see how far we have let the government go.I do feel alote of sadness for what has happened today.I also feel that it could be a wakeup call for the god fearing people in this country. The only question is,is there enough of us left to do anything?

If you look at the 10 comandments you will see what is right and wrong. So why do we need all the BS that is written in our laws?

Your right Fuzz, God is slowly taking His hand off this country. We have demanded that he leave and being the gentleman He is.......he obliged.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

------------------------------------------------

January 31, 2006 |A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.

House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.

The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.

Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."

The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.

Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.

In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities.

We have made our schools like a big fat prairie dog town where you can shoot to our hearts content w/ none of them able to shoot back.  :argh:  :argh:  :argh:  Where do they think people of such cowardnest would go to make a name for themselves. If you'll remember it used to be McDonald's & BurgerChef, but CCW became available & that crap doesn't happen there any more.
It's almost like a scheme  of the anti-gunners to find the most horrible place for an atrocity to take place & then past laws that guns aren't allowed w/in 500ft of the school grounds.   This law has caused more mortifying deaths of our youth than ever & now the Anti's can promote their cause. Anti-gunism isn't about saving lives, as you see, it's about control!  :argh:

:holdon: My apologizes to the Varminters that provide a service to the farmers/ranchers by doing population control of prairie dogs. The above comment was used as a parallel & wasn't meant as a slam on varminters by any means.

Violence Prevention Policy ...I would paraphrase as....... " This policy will assure that no law abiding person will be in a position to defend themselves against those that do not obey the law. To further ensure this inequity we will not enforce this so that those desiring to break the law will have clear passge to do harm to all the law abiding."

I don't have all the answers, but seems to me the playing field is not level and it is tipped in favor of the bad guys.

It could have taken only one from a CCW & this story wouldn't have made the news.

Your post JRB only adds salt to the wound.
