I could sand it and make it smooth and perfect but I don't like that I like the rough handmade look with the carving  marks still in it so someday 20 years from now someone will pick it up and say wow that is handmade.

Now I need to put the final high-gloss finishing coat on it and then put hooks on it and the line eye and  the diving lip and that little beauty will be done  :yoyo:

Looks like a great job to me. :yoyo:
The proof will be in the skillet. :wo:

Why the [L] did someone call it a skillet?

Pretty rough looking compared to the perfect plastic they sell in todays world, but you know it'll work just as good. :congrats:

I know, especially when I can buy those perfect plastic lures from China for $.99. Haha!  It helps keep me occupied During these long ass winters! 👍

Nice!  I like the hand carved look as opposed to the hollow plastic garbage.  So much more rewarding and probably even talk just a little to that fish you just duped - "How do you like THAT! - You know, I made that meself"

Shucks!  You just had to ask Nasty! LOL!

I did these a few years ago just to try my hand at making lures?  I gave them all to Dave and our friend Tom.  I'm with you on the Chinese lures.  I put the whole project on the back burner.  But I did learn a lot from watching lure making videos. -Through wires, drop loops, wire wrapping, making eye loops....

Hope you put a rattle in it nasty!! They sure won't be able to get it on their sonar with all those flat panels on the sides. Looks like a Stealth Shadrap!!

I personally think that rattling thing is just a selling gimmick by the manufacturers. I have never caught a fish yet that I heard rattling  :innocentwhistle:  I did try to put a rattle inside a number  #24 black gnat fly once, didn't have much luck with that either  I try to avoid buying lures with the rattles in them but they are kind of the rage these days.

Like everything else in my tackle box. Some days you just wish you had a box full of a certain lure!!

Or in Jim's case a frying pan full of them!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I sure like that slightly lumpy look, like a scarred bruiser of a prey fish.  My guess is that it will either work better as a bait or turn fish off.  It is different enough from the perfect smooth ones that fish will notice.  Hope you get a side by side test this spring.

After spending countless hours at the CAD table designing it I also have it so I can pop that diving lip off it and slap a wide lip on it and turn it into a jitterbug too! 👍😇😉

Saw a feller using one of the snake lures. Very life like. So much so I dang near put a load of 22bird shot in it for him. Freaky how life like the thing was
