Title: Tone Boards
Post by: rwehuntn on April 30, 2007, 09:58:44 PM
Hello, new to the forum and to turning predator calls. I have been busy making closed reed calls for my friends and coworkers, but the requests have started coming in for open reed calls and howlers. The problem is I do not have the experience (or the money for that matter) to get the equipment needed to produce my own tone boards. Can anyone tell me where to get decent production made tone boards? any help is appreciated.

There's a bunch of guys on here making their own tone boards, it's a touchy subject when it comes to copying though.

Check out Lorens toneboards of your lookin, at www.reeselanyards.com

Thanks for the advice, I'm not interested in copying anyone else's work, that is their work. Eventually I will get the necessary jigs etc. to make my own tone boards, but a straight copy of someone else's work is not my deal. I will check that website. as soon as I figure out how to post pics, I will show some calls for feedback. I tend to turn calls along the line of the old circe and weems type calls. I like the look of those type calls.

rwehuntn,

Use what you what's there for now, but if this open reed thing turns out to be a long term tenure and you desire to make your own, let me know and I'll help you out any way I can. I build my own using a bench grinder, sander, and a file, so if that style is your cup of tea, I'll try to shorten the learning curve for ya to the best of my ability.

Brad,
Thank yoy for the offer. Right now, I don't have the $$$ for the jig (something about too many hobbies) or the time (alot of irons in the fire). If that changes in the future, I will be sure to contact you for information. Thank you again fo rthe offer.
