Hey FNF'rs I think Bob is shy I believe if we try we can get him to tell the truth
Bill
Bob shy?
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Come on Bob! Spill your guts!
Guys I think we are missing something!
Brent
I want to hear too............... :innocentwhistle:
OK
Here is the story and all the names WILL NOT be changed to protect the innocent!
Me and bnccont decided to go coyote hunting last Saturday April 28th.
So i wake up and it is raining pretty good BUT i thought what the hell,,i have good rain gear so i gathered all my stuff up(which seemed to take 2 hours) and loaded the truck,, i roll into Bills house about 7:45 and he showed me some nice calls he is making on his lathe and then he even gave me one! thanks again Bill
we get out to the first stand about 8:30 i guess and set up and Bill starts calling with his distress call and we called for about 25 to 30 minutes with nothing getting suckered in so we meet up and Bill says he wants to walk up a high wall and try to call a yote in up on top because on a previous Hunt we called the bottom with no takers, anyway we trudge up the high wall and what seemed like 4 hours and 3 miles later we finally walk the 150 yards up the "hill"
Me and Bill stand there getting or wind back and talk strategy and believe me we sucked air more than we talked when something made me turn to my left and i seen a DARK(Black) Bushy body and tail walk through a little break :shck: where 2 small hills met at the bottom of the flat we were standing on,well i thought to my self; self what the hell did i just see? was it a coyote? nah couldnt have been because we were just down there and everyone KNOWS coyotes are smarter than that,so i tell Bill what i just saw and told him it must have been someones German Shepard but Bill said "no way" and about 3 minutes after that Bill said THERE HE IS!!! and i wheeled around to see this Black yote lopeing back from where we just were calling about 10 minutes earlier
Now i have to explain that i have NEVER had scope covers out of my truck but the ones that came with my Burris scope are real small and i didnt relize i had them until we went to the first stand and when we left the first stand i thought well its wet out so i may as well put them on while on our way to stand #2,,needless to say when the yote was loping i forgot i had them on and had to "rip" them off my scope,so i shouldered the Bushmaster Predator and got on the yote and while i was ripping the scope covers off Bill grabbed his call from around his neck and started calling on it
so me being the idiot rookie i am i thought the yote was going to stop because he was slowing down so i was getting the crosshairs back on the yotes siide because like i said he WAS going to stop and i didnt NEED to lead him if he was stopped right?
well it took me a second or two to realize the yote wasnt stopping and matter of fact he was speeding up and i pulled the trigger and when i was in mid "pull" of the trigger "ole" buddy Bill hit my arm because he was mad that i beat him to the draw :wo:,,lol,,i guess i wasnt meant to shoot the yote
Nah Bill didnt bump my arm i just needed an excuse for NOT re-leading the yote when he sped up his pace, when we walked it off i figured it was about a 225 yards and when i shot Bill seen the bullet hit right behind the yote,,i was dead on for the distance but since i didnt take the damn crosshairs off his side and put them out on his nose i shot behind him,,i just smiled BUT ever since i started looking at other peoples pics of their coyotes i thought i would LOVE to shoot a Black ypte or a Blonde yote and now i will probably never see another Black yote as long as i live :madd: BUT i am going to keep trying!!!
Me and Bill figured that when we was down at the 1st stand calling the Black coyote was coming to the sound
(and then again maybe not) and we must have not given the 1st stand enough time and while he was working his way in we did a semi circle around the coyote and we cut him off which was when i saw the coyote the first time, then the ONLY THING that i can figure is we went to the area where we were first and didnt see, hear or smell the
"rabbit in distress" so he back tracked because he thought it was safe,,like deer do :wo: and when he did he walked out in front of us,,from where he went in the woods when i saw him the first time and where he came back out of the SAME woods was like 25 yards apart so he MUST have figured it was still safe so he crossed an OPEN field again!
But it was a FUN day and it must have been a weird day because after the Black coyote fiasco we went out the road and mase 1 last stand because my youngest boy was coming for the weekend so we go out to the last place and we decide to use my FX5 on this stand and i gave Bill my AR-15 and i used his 12 gauge pump,i walked over and put the FoxPro up in a tree about 2 feet off the ground and i let things settle for about 10 minutes to let things settle down,so i decided to use the mad rabbit and i let it run for about 10 minutes, and while it was playing i THOUGHT i heard a sound behind me BUT i figured since the place i was sitting had "NATURAL" funnels with me in the middle and a steep bank on my left and Bill on my right so i knew whatever it was would have to walk right past me ,so i stopped the mad rabbit and listened for 10 more minutes and decided to try the baby cottontail distress so when i started the caller it ran for maybe 1 or 2 minutes and i heard something running down the path right next to me and im ready and all i see is a flash of brown ONLY 2 feet away from me hauling the mail and when i seen what it was i smiled again,,it was a full grown rabbit and it ran within 3 feet of the FX5 and stared at it so i turned the sound off and after 3-5 minutes the rabbit left, when i turned the call back on the rabbit came back but not as close this time and eventually left
I thought to myself that the FoxPro baby cottontail must be a good one if it tricked a full grown rabbit to run within 3 feet of the caller,,i wonder what the hell that full grown rabbit was thinking? i figured it would run the OTHER direction so it didnt get messed up like the baby cottontail,,the full grown rabbit would have pissed himself if there would have been a coyote chewing on the baby rabbit
But all in all i had a very good,,funny but good experience :yoyo: and i will keep after them and i just hope that my luck will change on the next one
and at the end of the last stand i decided to hit the crow sounds to show Bill how they come,,and within 1 minute they showed up so come June when crow season comes back in me and Bill will be blasting some crows because i LOVE shooting those no good sky bandits
Bob
Hey guys
while i was typing the story and i looked at it,, it wouldnt send and then i figured out why,,it said up top that 4 people have responded while i was typing it,,lol,,i didnt figure a bone headed stunt would have such a big response
and Bill,,i left out the part where you threw my Bushmaster down and STOMPED the scope into the mud when i had my back turned,,,sheesh ya didnt think i seen that when i was taking a leak did ya Bill
it was fun day and then like i said it was a "WEIRD" day,,hell even the Cleveland Browns had a good day at the draft, about time too because i was ready to become a Steeler fan,,NO WAY!!! NOTHING could be bad enough to root for the Pittsburgh Squeelers :roflmao:
Bob
Bob I will go along with most of the story. The only thing I disagree with is the firearm abuseI would never do that :nofgr:
You are right I had a great time Saturday and hope to have many more similar times like this one
Bill
I knew that Bill was a rascal when I met him!! :noway: Bumpin a mans arm cuz he got the draw 1st. :rolleye: Shame on you Bill!!!!! :nofgr:
:roflmao:
You'll get another opportunity Bob. Just hang in there. Neat story. Makes you wonder how many times a yote showed up after you got up & left what you felt was a good stand huh? Keep callin!! You'll get more shots. :congrats:
Sounds like you two had a most excellent adventure. :congrats: That's what it's all about.
I've missed a few in my time, that's just part of hunting, don't give up. That black coyote will still be in the area.
I would just love the opportunity to miss.
Yeah dont let it get you down. There will be other misses as well. Dont feel bad, I missed a tom at 30 yards this year with a turkey gun. I know how you feel.
Well
When i was a young whipper snapper at the old age of 9 i missed my first rabbit and the "old man" told me that everyone misses and that if i EVER someone say they NEVER missed he said that is a person that has NEVER shot
Nah i wated a Black or Blonde yote but actually i just WANT a yote so i will be back out there in a few months giving it a try again PLUS crow season comes back in around the middle of June so thats when the REAL missing shots start!!!
AH C'mon Bill you aren't gonna let me pawn the miss off on you  i SWEAR i thought i seen you stomp my AR? all right Bill didnt stomp my rifle but i swore i seen some type of abuse there
i cant believe work shut its doors in the summer,,why couldnt they have closed the plant down in the fall
oh well i get at least a year on unemployment or if i go to school i get 2 years :eyebrow: ah hell i have a few months to figure that out i guess :whew:
Now to break out the crow gear
Bob
Well, ya see there Bob; I did learn a very important lesson off ya. :eyebrow: Don't take your favorite gun iffen you're hunting w/ Bill. :noway:
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
:holdon: & I was worried about taking a leak around Kee Kee if he had a camera.
Bill....Why ya want to bump a guys arm when he's getting ready to blast a black yote for? LOL
Good story Bob. I could picture the yote coming through the woods as I read. Sounded as you guys had a great day.

,i left out the part where you threw my Bushmaster down and STOMPED the scope into the mud when i had my back turned,,,sheesh ya didnt think i seen that when i was taking a leak did ya Bill
ROFLMAO :roflmao:
I didn't have to bump his arm for him to miss.First of all he had the lens caps on his scope and 2nd if you are looking at the scope with a blind eye how would you know if the coyote stopped for what seemed like 10 minutes and stood broad side looking right at ya wagging its tail like it is saying go ahead try it I know your gonna miss. :roflmao: :roflmao:
I was getting winded from calling to hold the coyote there while Bob pussy footed around with lens caps sighting in trying to lead something that was not even moving
Bill
God i wish it wasnt moving when i pulled the trigger of course he might have cleard that spoil bank by about 20 feet then,,that damn yote must have landed 10-12 feet down that bank with his first leap,,well hell now that i think about it was there even another set of tracks on that spoil bank Bill ? come to think of it i THOUGHT i seen wings on its back?
Bob
You guys are killin me :roflmao:
Do you guys live anywhere near Franklin Furnace down there? I think their discharge is exceeding governments limits again :roflmao: :roflmao:
I don't know where Franklin Furnance is at,but I am sure the wind sure blows here. :laf: :laf:
Bill
Jim
never heard of Franklin Furnace in Ohio,,Bill might have he knows where everything is,of course it helps that he was a truck driver too,,me and him have a unique friendship,,i drive and he navigates.
The only Franklin Furnace i have heard of is a friggin wood burner but i wouldnt mind going over to 3 mile island so i could grow another set of arms so i could fire TWO guns at a yote ,of course i would have to make up TWO seperate excuses,,you know,1 excuse for each set of arms, hell it would cost twice as much for Ammo then and i would have to set at the reloader twice as long :wo:,,hell with it im staying away from Radio active area's,,wonder how living by Chernobyl would turn out?
Bob
Damn Bill beat me to it,,hey Bill maybe we should find out where this place is because MAYBE the yotes are TWICE as big and God knows i need a bigger target :roflmao: i PROMISE 1 thing,,next time i go out yote hunting im taking the Parker-Hale .22-.250,,i am a little more use to that gun,i have had it for 20 years and it is smokin too,i got the PH w/ a 3x-12x Bushnell BDC scope on it for $200 and i have been offered $800 for it and 1 guy said he would buy me a brand new Bushmaster Predator & swap even up for it,,told him NOPE & went and bought my own
ANYONE have or ever have a Parker-Hale Safari grade rifle?
probably should ask this in the Firearms section but oh well :innocentwhistle:
Bob
