Nope, haven't seen it before. I would guess that it is a shell casing that the tree grew around.

Looks like a jacketed bullet was fired into a tree and went through the milling process. On second thought, I do believe Hawks Feather is correct. Shell set over a small twig and the tree grew around it.

The trimmers found it in a 8ft piece of door casing at work. They cut this piece out and keep it on display I sure would like to know the story behind it.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200507/5dbdc98d0fd83d41dce6045304d81bac.jpg)
