It started out we were hunting ground hogs in the afternoon. We missed a few and got one.Came back to the house got a bite to eat,and headed out for a night hunt. Our first 2 stands produced nothing but gusty winds. The 3rd stand we got set up around 8:45 just as dark was really setting in.We set at the edge of the woods looking out across an open feild that had a long swooping valley,as we waited a few minutes for it to get a little darker the firetrucks headed out they were some distance away. When the silence of the night came alive. The coyotes were howling and yipping like mad over the next ridge.Which was a good 1/2 mile away.We tried to copy them ,and get them to answer us ,but we never heard them anymore. We continued our stand til about 9:30 ,and this one produced nothing. that is the first time I heard that many coyotes in one place.
Bill
Hearing them like that sure does get the blood pumping, don't it Bill? :thumb2:

BIll
Maybe you forgot the ketchup. :roflmao:
They sure can make a racket,,i went out a few times last November,December and January to locate coyotes and everytime i used the locator howl they would start howling,,i remember the first time because my 14 year old son was with me and he damn near snapped his neck looking over at me when he heard them answer,,ha ha ha,,like the Exorcist!
and the other times it was STILL exciting
BUT we also went out a few nights and heard nothing at all,,but thats part of the game i guess :wo:
Bill did you use a coon hunting light? or a big hand held spot light?
Thank you
Bob
We had a hand held spot light red lense
Bill
Sounds good!! That is a nice sound to hear huh!!! :yoyo: Up this way it is dead still a lot :madd:
Its good to see that your still getting out and at least hearing them. I would have thought you would have shot one by now. I have been taking the Jagdterrier out almost everyday trying to run some groundhogs .He did run one to his den ,too small a hole for him to go down,me with no shovel!. We ran a few deer out the woods the same day. Sat night went out about 10 to feed horse and goats ,heard some howling out in the back woods. So I guess I have a few still around.
Blackfish Glad to hear from you again I was just wondering what you have been up to.
Sounds like the young dog is starting out ok.It won't be long I will get these coyotes figured out.
Bill

Thank you
Bob
Welcome aboard Blackfish
Thanks for the welcome! Hay Bill! Ohio Bob > I have been fine althought the wifes been a different story! She fell in the barn and broke her leg , I guess that was late Feb. and had a steel rod put down thru her bone with steel pins and all! Then her Dad passed away last month,so it's just not her year! She has been taking everything pretty good I would say. So hopefully things will get back to normal ( if there is such a thing) and I can get out a bit more! Hope all is well on your end. Hopefully we can get out to fish or shoot some grounds hogs this summer! Till then take care you all, hope to see ya in the woods!
Sorry to hear about the luck that has been tossed your way ,but when things get better around your place we shall get together and shoot some lead.
Bill
Blackfish
That is bad news,,but tell her to get better quick,,i got some bad news yesterday morning and bad news SUCKS!!!
I Think i need a GOOD DAY of Musky fishing, just me and my Son
Blackfish, does your wife have to get the rod and pins removed in a year or longer or less than a year?
Take care of her
Bob
Ohio Bob, Yes sir Bad news does suck,I guess it goes both ways and we hope to forget the bad! The rod will stay ,I guess the pins might go ,I guess its all in how she can deal with it! Coarse she can deal with bad as she has had me for over 30 years to live with and Iam sure I've been worst than those pins will ever be! Hhahahahaaa !! Well hope to get out with you boys soon ,either do some shooting or some fishing ! Take Care!
Blackfish
I got GREAT NEWS TODAY,,my 17 year old boy is OK after all!!! :whew:
I HATE waiting for tests that takes a week and the RESULTS that take longer :argh:
Blackfish,,when i had a LOT of screws and pins put in my right arm they said they would leave them in untill the bones healed real well,,well that was 20 years later,,my arm started hurting more and more,,i went back to the doctor that put the hardware in the arm and he said,,well hell those have been in for a LONG TIME and the screws were all backed out
so he took them all back out and i have been fine ever since
I heard ALL KINDS of reasons why the screws backed out from people at work,,and some of them were un-printable here in this forum,,,ah its good to work with a bunch of comediens :laf:
and about the fishing Blackfish,,I am going to be going Musky "huntin" here in another week or so
