Title: Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Post by: ROOSTER on May 22, 2007, 04:51:13 PM
Going to Gatlinburg the 1st of June for a couple days. Anyone suggest some fun stuff to do while I'm down there. I'll have my wife and kids with me so nothing to wild.
Also would like to pick up a few fireworks, any suggestions as to which place to get them or which ones to buy. I don't care about pretty fireworks I want the ones that rattle the windows.

if your kids are like my kids, they will insist on doing gokarts [several places to choose from]. We had dinner at a place where you watched a rodeo kinda thing while ya ate.... was pretty cool and the food was good, but I can't remember the name of the place.

Regardless..... there is way more fun stuff to do there then you could ever it done. You should have a blast.

Go to Dixie Stampede. That's the place Stu is talking about.  Also if you get time away run down the knife store, its huge, and you wont believe how many knifes they have in one place. They also have some awesome carvings.

Take the kinds over and let them ride the water bumper boats, you would like that to!

ROOSTER,
I don't know about the big boomer fireworks stores but I'm sure there are several around.
You can find about anything you want in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. You can also spend several days exploring the area and not see everything.

There is a new (BIG) Bass Pro Shop right off I-40 at the Sevierville / Pigeon Forge / Gatlingburg exit (a must see). I think Brent is also talking about the Smokey Mountain Knife Works in Pigeon Forge (you will be going right by it). Ripley's Aquarium is another fine attraction in Gatlinburg. Keep on going through Gatlingburg and you'll run into the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. The Tennessee entrance (Sugarland Visitors Center) will be on the right.  No coyote hunting or firearms permitted in the park... take your camera.  Cade's cove loop ( a historic pioneer settlement ) is only a short drive from Gatlinburg. There you may see whitetail deer, black bear, wild boar and other assorted wildlife, including coyotes.... not in cages but roaming free in the wild.
Dolly Parton's "Dollywood" is also another place you all may want to check into but plan on an all day affair, plenty to see and do there.

BTW< If you like fine southern style cooking check out the Log Cabin Restaurant in Gatlingburg.

Don't forget Douglas lake.  :eyebrow:. Tis a good one on the tournament tour we hit.

You can go across the mountain into Cherokee as well. Nice drive and my younglings loved it.

The Smokey Mountain Knife store....My dad & I built that one  My cousin had United Knifes above it on the left, but the poor fellow didn't know you coulnd't have a girl friend while you were married. So his wife is now loaded and he don't have the knife store no more.... :rolleye:
