Title: The Polka Dot deer
Post by: Okanagan on October 25, 2023, 08:56:40 AM
A week or so ago on opening day of deer season my grandson Code and I were zooming  up a road toward mountains when we came on a white deer covered with dark brown spots all over.  It was standing on the left edge of the pavement. Code did a U turn and, came back a few yards and both of us jumped out of the pick-up.

Code found it first, hiding in the brush lined ditch.  We both got a good look at it:  a clean snow white almost all over with dark spots the size of golf balls over all the sides and back.  Its head was normal deer color from the top of its neck up.

He got within 20 feet of it and I got a good look at 30 feet.  Code had the only chance at a pic with his cell phone when he first spotted it but he was trying to get my attention.  It was an 18 month old doe.  I've seen quite a few pinto deer but this was way the prettiest.

That sounds really neat. I have seen pictures of white deer, but have only see a half dozen or so in the wild - all of them out west.
