Title: South Okanagan!
Post by: nastygunz on October 29, 2024, 05:31:03 PM
Local South Okanagan First Nations communities are celebrating a record return of migrating sockeye salmon to the region.
The  salmon run was on the brink of collapse, but their efforts to remove barriers and restore habitat are paying off.

Great video.  Thanks for finding it and posting it!

I know some of the people in that video, and know the area pretty well.

I didn't know about the sockeye restoration nor how successful it has been.  Good news!

Jim, I'll go pull a chunk of salmon from the freezer (yes, we froze some this summer), and have it for lunch tomorrow... while thinking of you!
