Title: Dust!
Post by: nastygunz on February 28, 2025, 06:50:43 PM
I have mentioned a time or two that I fumble my way through wood carving, in the warm weather I do it outside to minimize the dust and mess. In the winter time I don't do any power carving because of the dust inside. I usually just hand carve, chips and shavings no dust. Now I just got me a dust box so I can do a little power carving with my Dremel inside during the winter time. I use a little mini shop vac for my dust extraction system works like a charm.

Looks like a nice set up and well made. Reminds me of a sandblaster box and will serve the same purpose. Now lets see some of those carvings.

Looks like the radiation boxes at Hanford Atomic Energy Reservation for handling radioactive items.  At Hanford heavy thick gloves were built in to the ports on the box.  I got to spend a day with a scientist there back in the 60's.  That's the place where they produced the plutonium for the first atomic bomb Trinity test and then for the third bomb which was dropped on Nagasaki.

Isnt it hard to do in a box that small? I cant imagine two hands in there, the project piece, plus a dremel tool.
I dont have a clue honestly. My lack of knowledge on it makes it seems cumbersome at first glance.

:innocentwhistle: I prefer to work outdoors in the warm weather not so much in the winter. I like to go to the family camp away from civilization and hack at wood and shoot guns and eat pan fried native trout over a wood fire. Merica🇺🇸🇺🇸
