Just wondering if you ever decided on a pistol.

 Took me several minutes to figure out what you were talking about. :laf: I'm telling you, you have very uncanny timing as I have been eyeing up the new Kimbers very hard and want to add another 1911 to my collection. The daughter says buy em up Dad cause you know they're mine when you pass! :alscalls:
I had a Desert Eagle when I got married. Very first pistol I ever bought. Only had to be 18 at the time. I hit hard times and sold it shortly after getting married. And now I have been spending nights looking at them online thinking I need one of them back in my stash also.
But no one really knows about these late night window shopping ventures of mine except Katie...so I was like.."whaaaaat in the FFFFfff is he up to"  :wo:  My brain is going a hundred miles an hour wondering how you know.

Then it hit me.  :doh2:  The Wrangler conversation  :laugh2:
NO..I did not. I still feel like I want one just to see what it's all about. I mean it's cheap enough why the heck not. But havent takin the time to go shopping

Now you realize that I am psychotic, I mean psychic.

Your daughter sounds like one of mine. She has already picked out several that she said to tag them as belonging to her. One, even after explaining all the requirements, is a tight necked 6BR Bench Rest Rifle with a 36 power scope. I told her that she can't even buy over the counter ammo for it because of the tight neck, but she still wants her name on it. Every once in a while she will ask me if I have gotten her any new equipment. 🤣

There was a used Desert Eagle that came into the gun shop where I hung out many years ago and I consider it for a very short time. It was heavy and I thought I could deal with that and then I saw .454 Casull on the side and thought I don't like recoil and this is going to have more than I want.

 :alscalls:  :alscalls: I love it!

The Desert Eagles are very heavy now that you say that. I remember mine being very heavy for what it was and built with incredibly wide tolerances. Meaning if you gripped that thing as hard as you can, and shook your hand back and forth, it sound like a bucket of rerod. But it shot wonderfully.
My Kimber 1911's...built with such precision tolerances that you cant make a sound shaking those babies. And they shoot so damn smooth. I honestly dont think I've ever fired a smoother feeling pistol.
Thats it!...I'm getting another one.
Yes Katie I am getting some new equipment for you. :laf:

My $.02 (and probably not worth that) is to avoid a Kimber II. They have the Swartz safety and have on occasion produced a misfire at exactly the wrong moment. The other Kimbers have a "series 70" type firing pin as the gun lord John Moses Browning intended.  There are U Toob videos and forum discussions about this subject that are easy to find.  Some folks have no problem where as some refuse to trust their life to that system.

Edit: I have a Kimber II Two Tone and I swapped out that firing pin (installed a series 70).  It works fine but I would not buy that Swartz system again.

"Glock"........ :innocentwhistle:

"Kimbers run better broken in 400-500 rounds.
That said pretty guns but for reliability and carry go with a Glock."

I had an original Kimber that did not have the Swartz safety and sold it like an idiot. Now I only have a series 70 Colt from Novak and a Caspian built by Dustin Bonar, son of Joe Bonar (former president of Novak sights). Now when I look at 1911s, I avoid the series 80 and Swartz safeties. Springfield is a good option and I would love to have their compact Ronin with the AOS (optic system). I would definitely consider a series 80 Colt Defender if I could get a deal on one.

Too bad Wilson Combat got so expensive. I remember their basic CQB selling for around $1500. Now their cheapest one's base price is near $4000.
