Duck eggs grilled?
Smoked.
I'm at it with the smoke tube again. The grill is not on. Just using it for the housing. (cold smoking)
Smoked some more pepper jack cheese a couple weeks ago and a co-worker asks, "you ever smoke eggs? I'll give you a dozen duck eggs to try it. You'll like it."
Oh mannn they are so delicious :eyebrow: :sneer:
He said he's getting a roughly a dozen duck eggs a day right now. I told him I'd buy a dozen every tow weeks.
I'm taking chicken eggs off my grocery list and switching to his duck eggs.
So keep that in mind if any of ya ever stop over for breakfast ;yes;
How do ya want em? Over easy? Poached? Sunny side up? Hard boiled? Scrambled? :readthis:
Duck eggs work very well in baked good, also.
We used to eat duck eggs all the time when we were kids. Now I'm going to have to look around and see if anybody sells them. I don't even know anybody that owns ducks anymore.
We have pretty much switched to 'farm' chicken eggs. It is hard to believe the difference in shell thickness and the color of the yokes.
So what does a smoked egg turn out like? Is it like hard boiled eggs or just a regular egg with a smokey flavor? I have never heard of it before.
we started raising coturnix quail last year around this time. mostly for the eggs. We just hatched out about 75 over the last month. they typically start laying eggs at 8 weeks and are full grown then as well. if your looking for something that is easy to raise I would look at them. it does take three quail eggs to match a chicken egg but they are bite sized when you hard boil them and pickle them.

Hard boiled Jerry, with a smokey flavor.
Ya hard boil em like any other egg, and then peel them. I put them in the fridge and waited until the next day to peel them thinking it would make peeling easier.
And then cold smoked them for two hours just like the top pic shows.
So yep, literally a hard boiled egg with smokey flavor. If you like anything smoked, you'd love them.
They werent dry, they werent rubbery. They were perfect.
I took them to work the next day and they disappeared within minutes :laf:
what wood are you using to smoke them jim?

I've always wanted to get ducks for the eggs but am afraid because we have too many critters around. The missus tied my daughter's goats on our pond dam and they called a fox in.
Are you using a Smokai generator for your cold smoking?
No Mike. I use a Smoke Tube.
You can buy them almost anywhere. It's literally a stainless hollow cylinder with slots cut into it. You fill it with smoking pellets, light it and leave it.
It's in the photo at the top of the post laying next to the eggs.
I have a duck egg dealer too. :alscalls:
I did dragons eggs years ago on the smoker, they were not worth the time and effort. :madd:
I might have to start getting my cold smoke'n back on.
