Clay Newcome has an episode or two on Bear Grease podcast where a feller had been bitten several times but was allergic to the antivenom. It's a very cool episode. Bear Grease snakes (https://www.themeateater.com/listen/bear-grease/ep-12-snake-bit-the-original-fear)

yea I used to a lot.  Just havent had the desire lately.  Those guys that make those videos has in my opinion kinda been ruining it.  No one used to do it and then now that there is exposure every tom dick and harry is doing it.  in the Last few years the amish got into it.  they need to redo the regs and make people take a course on how to handle and hunt snakes.  too many places have been ruined by it.

the local state forest I used to go and i ran into another snake hunter and until he gives it up or moves on im prob done for a while.  just too many people doin it.

yea unfortunately.  Some days i get pissed about the cancel culture stuff.  Just recently a guy that I follow got canceled all because he killed a coyote with a knife.  he had shot it at long range went out and I guess to keep from getting bit he used his foot to protect himself.  In reality he was a pretty real guy and wasnt a bought and paid for influencer.  on the other hand theres so many influencers that test out some gear in their back yard and its the best since sliced bread.  social media has ruined a lot of shit but some guys posting knowledge getting canceled because of something taken out of context.  IDK what im trying to get at here other then I still get on facebook and look at stuff and learn from others right or wrong.  but theres a lot of people that ruin shit but posting it for everyone to see.

Good for you!  That's gotta be good to move into a new house you built.

Re hunting rattlesnakes:  I did it just twice and got so jumpy it just wasn't worth it.  Made me too nervous just to walk around.  That was in B.C. not far north of the border at the foot of cliffs where rattlesnakes were THICK for a short spell in the spring as it warmed up.

We have a few but almost exclusively up on the very top of mountains in the ledges. Every now and then one will wander down into civilized land but very rare.
