Title: More Strikers
Post by: blacky on July 29, 2007, 08:32:13 AM
A friend in Arkansas has ordered some calls and wanted extra strikers that I have turned. I made these for him. From left to right they are: Cherry, Purpleheart, Sassafras, Walnut, Osage Orange and Sugar maple. The picture doesn't show the finish so well because I used my scanner to do it with.

They look good from here.

Not being a Turkey hunter I gotta ask why someone would want extra strikers? And especially so many.
Do they leave em laying, or does each one make a different sound when used?

Each striker because the composition and hardness is different will sound different on the same slate or glass call. Most turkey hunters carry one or two pot calls and several strikers to sound like different turkeys.

:doh2: I usually leave em lay

But there sure is a sound difference between woods.
