Title: The Model T of Calls - NEW PICs w/ "ORION" Decals
Post by: Orion on August 05, 2007, 11:17:06 AM
Now with "ORION" Decals. Just like the Ford Model T these call are of simple design, made to last and get'er done.  Orange calls are dymondwood and the color is "Fiji orangewood".  This material is extremely hard and durable.  Second set of calls are natural Birch laminate gunstock material and should last a lifetime like a good gun.  Interior is finished and are step drilled for extra volume.  Calls are about one inch in diameter and 2 3/4' long and fit nice in the hand all are tuned to a rabbit distess voice.   Price is right so you can afford to have one with you at all times!!  $12 shipped to your door.

Thanks!!

Doug

I don't see the pictures, but I also didn't see the one in Arky's post.  At first I thought it was just my problem, but now I am starting to wonder.

I really like the white birch but the orangewood is really nice. They appear to be shaped in a very user friendly style & have nice deep lanyard grooves too. Well Done!! :congrats: :congrats:

Hey, now that I can see them, nice looking calls.  I have never turned either of those woods, but they look good.

Todd - the tone boards and mylar are from Bob Irwin at Call Makers Supply. These are all 1/2 inch diameter but they also come in 5/8th.  I think the smaller tone board looks better with these calls base on their size. The Mylar is .010 but I also have some that is thinner for that real high pitched squeal.  Bob has a good background in call making and is there to help.

Two questions before I order "O"

Are the decals hand cut? And are they sealed or on the exterior of the finish?

I like both decals, and the darker ones seem to look better on the darker calls, as the lighter decal appears to really pop on the lighter woods. Nice job.  :congrats:

Todd - The decals are hand cut, applied then sealed with a satin poly finish.

Orion,
I would like the closed reed call in the photos.  Let  me know the details, maybe you can make a match to it in the same wood etc in an open reed and I will take both.  Thanks and Great Job on the calls and the decals! :yoyo:

Orion,
The decal is the "BOMB" !  I need a set of those.  Please PM me with details on how I can get a full variety set.  I like the sheild shaped decals.  Really fits the name and reputation of Orion.  Good Choice.

Folks,
I just received a matching set of Orion calls.  One is an open reed and the other a closed.  The quality of these calls is "Excellent" small and lightweight yet tough as nails.  The decals are "Top Notch", I kind of wish folks would get back into the decal game as it really adds that sexy look of the old "Circe" days. :bowingsmilie:  Doug ships super fast and makes sure that they are packaged carefully.  I can't wait to get a few more of your calls in the future! Thanks Again!
Dave
