After doing more sanding and changing the shape of the mouth piece a little more sanding and trying 3 different
finishes  taking pics outside this is what I came up with

Well Bill, it looks like your caulk trim is coming up just to the right  of the call.

Call looks all around ok to me. Shape is fine, the material combo is fine, and they are squared up.

I'm not sure as I don't own many wood/acrylic combos, but a higher gloss finsih (Would be my preference and opinion) might top that call off, and blend the wood better with the acrylic. Ya can still see the grains in the finish, but this just might be from the flash, might not be able to see them in hand like that. I do like the grain in some calls to show through the finish, I just think this call might benefit better if, it had the higher finish.

Bill
is that the acrylic I sent you? Try slowin her down when you wetsand and polish at a slightly higer speed. You will be able tell you are getting it when you down see the heat cracks. Other than that I think it looks pretty good for your firt combo call.

Todd I see the trim I will have to get that fixed

I resanded the call and put a different finish on it I will have to get some pics and compare them

Bryan That is the black I got from you  Thanks

Jimbo I agree It is kinda bland   I think I was scared of turning it to thin and ending up with a piece of junk

I will keep trying

I think you did alright Bill. I'm not sure why it doesn't have that "Bill shine" we're used to seein tho. :wo: Did you go satin on this one??    I'm used to seeing fancier from you,, more beading/flaring,, but other than that it looks real nice. Should make someone very happy. :congrats: :congrats:

Hey the second picks look good Bill. I see it appears no flash was used too.

Ya can still see a bit of the grain in the finish, but its not enough to stand out and really looks good. Nice job.  :congrats:

Bill, looks good for a first time. I cant see anything wrong with it. I would be a little timid the first time as well. Now that you got your hands in the acylic, it will not be so hard the next time.
