Title: Opinions Needed
Post by: Bills Custom Calls on August 24, 2007, 06:27:53 PM
This is the start of my next set  That will be raffled off at the trappers convention in Dover,Ohio

This one will have a Tho howler reed in it when it is done  It is 3 3/4 inches long
Right now I am asking should I change anything on it  lets hear some opinions on this piece of wood

Bill,

I think the bell end of the call should be wider.    :roflmao:   I am sorry, that wasn't nice, but I couldn't resist.

It looks good to me.  I am not noticing any voids in the finish and there is a great shine on it.  I would just wait on the reed and consider it done.

Jerry

I have the reed for this one here just need to do a little sanding and put the finish in side but was waiting on some feed back first

Jerry there are some things that are just impossible to do and making the bell wider is one of them  :laf:

Thanks

Looks good from here too Bill!! I like the shape. Nice color contrast as well.  :congrats: :congrats:

Just one question for ya if you don't mind tho.  Is the lanyard groove deep enough so it won't slip off that nice call??

I think the elegant green acrylic, and brass accent ring make it look like a real shotgun shell. While not a new idea a very novel one and man it looks real, smoken job on it, and never thought of using salt shaker for size comparison.  :congrats: :congrats:

Yes the lanyard groove is deep enough   It is just the angle your looking at it

Bill,
I like the call overall. But if I could add the changes that I wanted.
I think the bell should flare out more, be wider. The lanyard groove should be deeper.

I really like the combination of the woods.
