Be careful guys....don't care how much you have done this stuff, or what you think you know....BE CAREFUL!!!
I just got back from the clinic....was only 8 stitches, but could have been worse, and this from a harmless little scroll saw...you know the ones...they could never hurt anyone, right????
Remember...if it CAN cut, IT WILL!!!
I wqs lucky.....will slow me down a few days, but thats about it....just thought I would take this opportunity to remind us all to watch what we are doing, and be careful...
According to the Doc....almost took it off....think it nipped the end of the bone...wasn't much left to stop it...

Dang Joe. Glad you didn't loose the tip of your finger. It is funny how we get used to doing certain things and how it takes something like that to wake us up and remind us be careful.
Hope your back to turning real quick.
Ouch!! Thanks for the reminder....
That's gonna hurt for a few days. OUCH !! It's easy to get hurt with power tools. I was drilling a piece of metal a couple years ago and the tip of the bit broke off. It kicked the drill around in my hand and put a 5/16" hole all the way thru my left hand. :doh2:
Joe,
I hope you get feeling better. Cuts are never any fun.
Jerry
OUCH!!!!!
Joe ,
That hurts just looking at it  Hope you get it feeling better soon.

Wow, that was a close one.
I have cut 3 fingers with a table saw and was lucky that is wasn't real bad. I also have got my finger in the bandsaw a couple times. Those were minor cuts as well but just a fraction of an inch on those occassions and I could have lost a finger or two.
Our hobby is enjoyable but can be dangerous at times. I agree, BE CAREFUL.
dang Joe, thats gonna leave a mark  I feel for ya on the slow down for a few days hope it heels up well
Take Care I still want more of yer calls :eyebrow:

Wow Joe........I'm glad it was no worse than it was. Dodged a bullet my friend. I hope it mends 100% and soon.
How high do ya think he holds that thumb off the keyboard when he's typing :laf:
She looks nasty Joe :nono:
That looks bad Arky. :shck: Lucky it wasn't your "Bird" finger though. :innocentwhistle:
I don't mean to sound like I like gory details, but could you elaborate on exactly how it happened. It may help the rest of us to avoid whatever you did wrong. That looks like it is going to hurt like hell for a few day. OUCH! Sorry you had to have such a painful lesson. Take care of that thing so it doesn't get an infection.
Dang Joe!! You're a purdy lucky fella for having a bit of bad luck!! Glad you didn't lose it!! Hope you get better real quick too.
I've had 2 minor incidents on table saws & have been extremely lucky both times. I don't want a 3rd try. :rolleye:
That doesn't look good Joe! I hope all goes well in the healing process.
Joe,
Danged it, Son.... :shock2:
I... err... I.... errr... :sick2:
Thanks guys....here's the skinny.....
I was freehand cutting a piece of acrylic for a tone board, was just getting the general shape and the radius.I knew the little saw was dull, and had meant to shange the blade, but remembered it after I started cutting. I thought, "Oh heck...guess I can get one more cut out of it" , as I didn't want to stop. It wasn't cutting well but I was almost finished with the radius...I was having to push too hard...as the material got a little warmer and smaller ( friction and getting smaller as I went) all of a sudden it just zoomed through like butter....I didn't have time to react before it was too late. I got the saw turned off with my left hand and worked the thumb off the saw blade....looked it over, wrapped it in a heavy paper towel...and off to the Doc...
It was all a stupid newbie mistake...I knew better, and went on anyway.....dumb!!
Joe
That part about shutting off the saw then removing your thumb makes me shudder. I have been cutting tone boards free hand on a sharp band saw. Now I'm really scared.

holy cow Joe !!! I bet that throbs like the dickens !@!!!! Hope you heal well, dont let er git infected !!
That sounds like a good lesson for all of us. As we all know a sharp knife is a safer knife, and here is the lesson that shows the same to be true for the blade. I guess maybe I better pick up a new blade for my band saw, as I too, have been forcing the piece just a bit. Sorry it had to happen you to Joe, but thanks for the alert for the rest of us. I'll be changing my blade out today!
Wow.....now that sucks....I think I am going to start weing body armor. :eyebrow:
Dang Joe! Hope you get well soon!
Brent
ooooooouch!!!!! Been there , done that myself. Wishing you a speedy recovery .
