Title: Picked up a lathe today
Post by: HaMeR on October 26, 2007, 08:19:14 PM
at the next door auction. It's a 36"x12" Craftsman with the MT1. It's either 8 or 9 yrs old according to the Family but it was only used a time or two. I got the bench it's setting on & a 5 piece Craftsman lathe tool set for $55. Caint complain about this deal!!

Seems like a REALLY good deal to me.  Are you sure you didn't just bid on the tools?  That price seems a little better for the tools than everything.  Nice catch.

Bill-- I just wanted it for my wood shop. You never know. I might want to build a tall table. :laf: :laf:

Jim-- :roflmao: :roflmao:

Jerry-- It was toward the end of the auction & folks just weren't bidding as well. I hadn't bought anything up to that point so I had a few bucks in my pocket yet. When the auctioneer said lathe/table/tools "as one" I really became interested. Know what I mean? :eyebrow:  I figured at least double the amount I paid so I was a bit surprised.  It all needs cleaned up but thats minor.

Good deal!  You made out quite well I would think.  Lots of possibilities with something like that.   Hope you get years of enjoyment out of it!

HaMeR, I have one just like it that a friend gave me a few years ago, but it's missing the motor . Could you me let me know the RPM of that motor soz I could try to find one ? man I would really appreciate it !!! :thumb2: I also have another Craftsman lathe that I have never used but I dont think it is as good as the older ones.
