I just purchased the Leupold rifleman 3x9x40 would this scope be any good to put on a winchester 307 lever action

The 3x9 has a nice range of power and the Leupold is an excellent scope.  It should be fine on your gun.

I have the same scope on a Rem. 30.06 and it works great. The Rifleman series scopes are an excellent choice IMO compared to other scopes in the same price range,I'm glad to see Leupold has developed a series of lower cost high performance scopes, just remember it is not a veri-x II or veri-x III with a lower price tag on it !!
