Title: Old Ithaca model 37
Post by: Silencer on November 06, 2007, 04:44:01 PM
I've had this gun my whole life, its a 20 guage Model 37, the amount of time we've spent growing up together...well...    Lots of ducks, squirrels, grouse, etc. we're taken at the end of her barrel.
I know she's way older than me, but every once in a while I take her out and bag a few.
Anyone else have a gun they grew up with ?

Here she is.  :eyebrownod:
Handed to me by my Papa 27 years ago
Savage Arms 434 22lr
I got excited at that age and made an attempt to grind off the finish and refinish it. Didnt turn out to bad

The little scope in the corner is the old hunk of junk that was on it. Looked like a dang cigar.

Thats in pretty darn good shape Jim, looks like ya did a fine job.   I have another rifle here, its a 32win special Model 94.   The serial number traces back to the 1930's.  Cant find ammo for it on the shelf, have to order it or have the local gunsmith load them for me.

Old rifles are cool. It's even more fun when the kids are old enough to know the difference and share the fascination.

Yeah...this is cool. I'll add some pics later, but my Dad gave me several of the guns from his gun cabnet of old. I vaguely remember the Christmas he gave me my first Ithica single shot 22 and shortly after trimmed the stock down on a 20 guage Mossberg bolt action. I shot a doe last year with that Mossberg and my son says it's his favorite

Not only short barreled, its lite weight, easey to handle and carry if two guns are needed for a stand. It has a short vent rib added to front of barrel so i can use a glow site. The end of barrel has also been threaded for a choke tube so i can shoot steel shot in it or change the shot restrictions.. T.A.

Nice shotgun !  I just had a couple boxes of shells givin to me by an older gentleman at work that dont hunt anymore.
Gonna go bag some tree rats with her this weekend, unless the geese/ducks co-operate, then we'll be hunting them most the day.
