Met up with VVarmtr at 5:15 this AM & headed out to Bill's (bnccont) for some huntin & shootin. We got there & the frost reminded us what time of year it is. Bill had the door open when we got there & Welcomed us to his humble abode. :biggrin: The coffee was ready & so were we. Well,,, except for James,,, he needed to get his oatmeal fix 1st. :eyebrow: It makes him shoot straight. :wink: We set out a little while later for our spot on the highwall overlooking a winter wheat field. The view was rather nice up there this AM. After hearing some crows yap we finally got a few to come our way. James burnt the frost off his barrel & tuned up his shootin eye on those ones. :wink: So we sat there for a little longer when I announced there was coming in from our right. As it flew past me I got off a crippling shot slowing it down just enough for James to fold it up!! "Good" crow #1. :biggrin: We sat there until about 9:30 shooting several more volleys & ending up with 3 good crows for the day. The birds just weren't co-operating today. They stayed a bit too high for effective hits. But the ones that did come down were definitely smarter than when they arrived. :roflmao: :roflmao: Then we set out on a coyote callin expedition in some very promising ground. It was quite windy & the rain just got harder as we went but we persevered & plowed thru it. No coyotes called that were seen & I think on a different day with better weather we woulda had some business to take care of for sure. I think they were just holed up for the day. :shrug:
At any rate it was a rather good day for me in the field with a couple good hunters & Friends. I enjoyed it & even learned a little more. I hope my company was enjoyed as much. :biggrin:
Thanks for the very good dinner Chris!! :thumb2: :thumb2: It was greatly appreciated & the hot food really hit the spot on a cold, windy & rainy day!!
That's what it's all about. :thumb2:
Sounds like a good time !
Yes Hamer your company was enjoyed.Glad you enjoyed the vittles.Every day with me is a learning experience.

The ketchup was cleaned off the walls and bread crumbs off the counter.
I only treat people like I would like to be treated
If anyone would like to know we only walked about a 1/4 of a mile from the house to do the crow hunt we seen 5 deer and a groundhog while we were on stand
Ain't the Country GREAT!!!!

Jerry
Sorry I didn't post last night, but those two youngsters just plum wore me out. :rolleye: And it didn't help that I still wasn't hungery. :eyebrownod: I plopped on the couch, finished what little was in the Bushmills bottle, watched The Guns of Naverone, & woke up about 12am pinned to the couch by Coyote Kate all cuddled up to me. :biggrin:
Truely, I am a man blessed of God! ;yes;
I had a most wonderful time. Got in some trigger time. :biggrin: In fact the lack of crows on the ground wasn't from a lack of lead in the air. :laf: At least on my part. :innocentwhistle:
After each coyote stand we'd take a quick moment & critque it & each other & horror of horrors we decided to be honest to each other. :huh: It was Glens idea & I may never hunt w/ him again! :noway: :pout: j/k :laf: It was a good. Just don't try it w/ people you don't know that well! :nono:
BTW Bill, when you come up to hunt w/ Glen or I or both does Chris want to come along to cook? :shrug: :eyebrow:
