I told 2 young fellers I would take them deer hunting today.Even though it rained alnight and was still raining today I kept my word.1 young feller couldn't make it but ended it up with 4 others. So Bud and I planned the drives and set the other fellers where we thought the deer would run.after a few hours of walking setting getting soakedIt was back to the house to dry out a little have a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat.No Chris didn't cook just some cold cuts.While we were having lunch got a phone call 2 deer just went in where we had already been.So Bud and I do a little more planning andgather up the youngens and set out for another wet empty hunt.Then we decided to make a drive through the swamp.With Bud,Pj,Skyler,and Andrew on drive and Johnny and I on stand.I hear Andrew and Skyler Yelling as they were walking up deer up deer making as much noise as possible.When I hear Skyler yell up deer then his voice changed BIG BUCK :laf: The tone of his voice I knew it was a sight for a 9 year old then the 410 went off then the 20 gouge that Andrew[12] had went off,and they both headed for the railroad tracks where the buck had run.Even though they missed I am glad I got to be a part of this for them

Thats a cool thing to do Bill. Congrats to you & Bud both!! Hopefully the 15th & 16th will bring better weather & those 4 can have another go at it again. They don't look in too bad of shape tho!!
Sounds like they had a good day even tho they got wet. Glad the little ones got to see a buck and a shot off.
It will be a day that all of you remember - the kids for getting a shot at a deer and you for getting to see their faces.

You guys do look a little soaked. :laf: Had that yesterday myself. We hunted all day in rain, sleet, ice pellets, snow. :puke: Still would not have traded it for sittin around the house. It was cool that you got experience it with them. :yoyo:
More of the credit goes to Bud on this then me.If he wouldn't have showed up I would have stayed in the house.
Bud is my neice's husband Andrew and Skyler are his boys.Pj and Johnny are my nephews.
Skyler got a button buck last year in our youth season and bagged a doe this year.
I am sure those young fellers will have a story to tell at school today :laf:

Looks like everyone has a shotgun. Using shot or slugs? I guess since you're driving deer, it's shot?

We are only allowed to use slugs during gun season here.
Bud has been working with those youngens for a while now teaching them about gun safety and I wouldn't be afraid to take any of them in the woods with me.
I will get them started on coyotes as soon as Bud thinks their ready.
