This is a little different style of hunting but one that many of you might enjoy watching. I would like to invite any of you in the area to the Annual Texas Hawking Association Meet in Abilene, Texas January 18-21 We will be staying at the Howard Johnsons and going out for daily hunts. There are usually about 150 falconers in attendance with Hawks and Falcons from all over the USA. Birds are kept outside in a weathering yard daily for the public to come see. If anyone from the board wants to go out and watch some hawks hunt you may go with me as my guest just let me know so we can make contact by PM, email or phone. If you wish to attend the meet, seminars and or banquet you must register with the THA and there is a small charge. There is no charge to anyone to just go out on a hunt with me if you just come by. Man, that sure brings back memories of hunting beach pigeons with Coopers, cottontails in the headlights with a Bubo, and mud hens with a Gos. I would love to go along and carry your birds for you. But I'm already committed for the month. Please, take lots of pics, especially of the strikers. Binders just don't make the feathers explode like a well tuned Peal's.
Thanks for the invite and post, but it would be a little bit of a long commute for me right now. Like NASA said, take lots of pictures. Not just of the hunt, but I would be interested in seeing some of the birds close up.
