Title: Stu! Otter tolet?
Post by: keekee on January 12, 2008, 07:32:59 PM
Guys, Stu has been a big help in trying to help me get a Otter! We have talked about every night on the phone! Thanks Stu! But for some reason we just cant get into the right area's for them. But we finally found a Otter tolet the other day and I want to make sure thats what we found.

Are we on the right track Stu?

Brent,

While I have never caught an Otter or seen an Otter Toilet, that one looks a little bit like the Litter Toilet.  Not real sure, but that would be my guess.  The Otters sometimes visit the Litter's area, so it might be a good place to set a trap.

:nono: You had me at a loss for words for a minute there...... When you said you were seeing sign but not catching anything ..... well I would have never guessed.

Looks to be a good spot for a set..... here's what ya do  :wo: first ya need to rearrange the spot a little, but only a little cause they shy away from blocking/funneling. Just reposition it a little so that round spot is facing up...... then drop your drawers and make a set...... I'm certain you'll catch something

That's just the dumb hillbilly in me I guess!...lol

We made the set just like we thought we should. Baited with yesterdays used Big Mac and Fry's, along with some recycled deer and mashed potato's. It was pre mixed and a little runny more of a paste bait I guess, we used toilet paper for the trap pan cover. And set it up on a SLIDE rig.

But all we can caught is Grinner's!

Did you get that otter yet Brent ?  Think 330's in the channels or even a 220 in that feeder creek.  Good luck !

Thanks for the invite and the welcome Brent.

Another day or two and the canines and mink will be going nuts on the search for food.  If it stays cold it may actually become a bit easier.

Later,

Mark

I hear ya, MB! Im thinking more on the lines of calling some Coyotes! I got allot going on in the next few weeks and it wouldnt do much good to set traps out right now then haft to pull them. But I got till the end of Feb to get that Otter!

Thinking about heading North Sunday to call some with a buddy up that way, should be nice and COLD for sure! Flat land is a good change!
