Title: WV hunt with HaMeR
Post by: Frogman on February 16, 2008, 10:15:50 PM
What a great February.  First I got to go to LBL.  Then I got to look forward to HaMeR coming to our part of WV to hunt bobcats and help wv_yoter and I figure out some tough coyotes.  HaMeR arrived in Parkersburg on Wed. afternoon Feb. 13, 08.  We had been pm ing each other for a few weeks trying to help him set up a hunt for WV bobcats here in our area.  When he arrived he was ready to go hunting.   :sneer:

HaMeR, wv_yoter and I did three stands Wednesday afternoon at a farm near Creston WV.   On Thursday morning we hit it again at 5:30 AM.  17 degrees out this morning.  Did 7 stands on a hunting lease also near Creston.  We saw some cat tracks, scat, coyote tracks and other promising sign but no living breathing fur.   :rolleye:

This is Frogman looking for the elusive bobcat:

Here is an old abandoned house where we did a stand:

On Friday We left again at 5:30 AM for another farm near Creston.  Walked out a haul road and found lots of sign in the road.  Cat tracks, fox tracks, and coyote tracks.

We did a stand near this abandoned barn:

We did five stands on Friday with no success.

HaMeR and wv_yoter hunted on Saturday at the Hughes River WMA.  I had to work at the scuba shop.  I'm sure they can fill in their experiences for you.  Something about wv-yoter killing a tree?!?!

I had a great time hunting with HaMeR.  We kept the WV bobcats hidden from him so he will have to come back again sometime to try again.   :sad2:  He is a great guy to hunt with.   :congrats:  He shared some good ideas with us about how to hunt some of these areas we have been so frustrated with recently.  :wo:  I hope to hunt with him again soon.  :yoyo:

Jim

Looks like some pretty nice hunting ground. It's too bad ya didn't score any, but sounds like you guys had a good time.

I feel like I need to apologize for you meeting HaMeR. No person should have to endure such trauma.  :laf:

The sunrise on that river was much nicer than the camera captured.

The pleasure was all mine & Frogman & wv_yoter are a couple real folks that made my short trip worth it all. No fur on the ground,, unless you count the critters that are still runnin around  :laf: ,,, but a very good time was had. If you get the chance to hunt with Jim & Jason I would recommend doing so.

Thanks Jim & Jason!!

I'll start a new thread later myself with a few of my pics.
