No pictures here my inquisitive friends  Not posted by me anyway.
I'm in the market for another crow call. Maybe two. Those of you that know me, know how partial I am to Acrylic.
Show me what ya's got. :eyebrow:
 :wo: Not sure if I've ever seen one, good thinkin Jim.
I got one from Al that is GREAT, but it isn't going to another state, unless I go along with it. :innocentwhistle:
Jerry
C'mon people.....what'ya gonna do?...make me go to Walmart?
A pearl black acrylic call 4" long minus tone board with a wide flared beaded end. Is that what you're lookin for??
 I'm not looking for anything in particular, other then a couple nice acrylic crow calls.
I figured the call makers would pounce at this with pics and I could place a couple orders
I would just commission Al to make one for you. Let him run wild...... :eyebrownod:
I don't have anything made up right now, and I am out of crow call guts until Wednesday (100 coming in)
Besides the calls I meade for the LBL, I have made exactly one call this year, and it went to Ben. I guess it's about time to get hot. I will see what I can come up with. BUt Jerry makes a nice one, as do a few other guys on the forum. Lots of very good call makers. I would like to see what Scott could do with some acrylic. I bet he would make a sharp crow call.
Al
What color/colors are you looking for? I can mix up some resin and cast some blanks in the colors that you want, then if you like them I will send them your way. If you end up not liking them I am sure that someone else will take them.
I'm picturing a translucent green, Army. But like I said, looking to see what's available.
I'd like to give two different call makers a sale here, so feel free to whip one up.
I don't do acrylic...not yet anyway. Maybe sometime down the road when I get bored with wood
Steve
Thanks Al for the compliment/confidence. (assuming you're talkin about me )
I haven't done any acrylic yet, been thinkin about it some, I'll have to get some some time and give it a try.
I don't have any crow guts right now either, I don't think, but I'll check.
Here's one made from transparent light green acrylic. Easy to play and makes my ears ring.

I like that, got anything in that lime green you've posted before?
Rumor has it there's a nice lookin Candy Apple Red acrylic crow call out there right now!! :eyebrow: I hope it gets posted here!! It's a nice one for sure.
Rumors?
I need visions :eyebrownod:
yep the call was posted on another form; is already sold was a good buy. suprises me it didnt show up here.
That's not what I was looking to hear
Sorry Jim!! I got the pic in my PM box here & thought for sure it would make this Forum. I guess somebodys in double deep Jimbo doodoo now aint he?? :innocentwhistle:
Naaaaaa :nono:
Now that I seen it, I recognize it. Big Bill made it. :eyebrownod:
I'm hoping someone will poke up another translucent one
There wax a feller on another board told me he would buy all the crow calls I make, but I still gave Jim first chance
at it
Thats cool!! I think you're setting your price a little low for the acrylic tho. JMHO

Well, almost anyway :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
AL
(http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dirtbox/pics/muttley.gif)
Jim,
I hate to tell you this, but I think Al is making you a drill press call. If he makes it I am sure that it will work, but it sure looks heavy.
Al,
I don't know how well the Meguiar's works on calls, but it does a nice job cleaning up the plastic on headlights and turn signals on cars. I really like Meguiar's products.
Jerry
He knows I'm checking this thread 46 times a day...and twice during the night when I get up to pee. So he's tormenting me :nono:
:laf: :laf:
You would have to turn and polish some acrylic to appreciate the last picture LOL. 2.50 worth of plastic, a buck for a reed and 27.95 for paper towels LOL.
Well, let's see if you like this one. No frills, just plain crow sounds in Green Acrylic.

And if you don't like it, it wont hurt my feelings a bit. Our crow season opens in a few weeks :)
AL
Al,
That looks good to me. I'll take it! :innocentwhistle:
Jerry
Sheesh Jerry, you looking to give Jim the fits LOL.
And get me in trouble :iroll:
Al
Nice lookin call Al!!
Very nice Al ! :highclap:
:doh2: You said the "fits"!! :whew: The poor fella's already up twice a night peein!! :rolleye:
:laf: :laf:
That is a nice lookin call. Maybe one of these days I'll figure that acrylic out myself.
Very nice Al...Just got a question for ya though. Did you turn the taper off of the reed and make it straight or am I imagining that :wo:
Steve
Yes, I did turn the taper off the insert.
It is known in the call making world as the Latta Method. Invented by the World Famous and Internationally Aclaimed call maker Jerry Latta of FnF fame.
Watch for a tutorial on the method coming this weekend on my web site.
Al
That is a sharp one Al. If I would known that you could turn these crow call inserts down I would have held out on the MT reamer that just came in the mail today :doh2:
Great lookin call AL :congrats:
Well....dont get mad at me but I dont really like it :holdon:
(http://www.championtannery.com/smilies/bounce.gif)I LOVE IT!(http://www.championtannery.com/smilies/bounce.gif)
:yoyo:
Jim,
Too bad, it is already spoken for.
Jerry
Thank you Jim, but you sent WAY too much. I will have it in the mail tomorrow. Hopefully it will get there by Saturday.
Army,
Hawk put something up on turning down those crow reeds in the Call Creation Forum. I am going to have a new tutorial on it up this weekend. Anytime you have a question, ask. Someone here will help you I am sure. Some of the best predator call makers you will find are on this board.
Al
Wayyyyyy to much.... Gimme a break.
There's an elite few that can turn calls that look as good as yours and you say you've been paid way to much? :nono:
Besides....I had to out bid Latta
Al put up the green one, here is mine. This is a blank that I cast. I call it "precious metals". It is gold, silver, and copper pearls.
:shck: Now I know why that FX3 was in the For Sale Forum!! :roflmao: :roflmao:
No you dont :nono:
Army, you cast that? Thats nice...real nice
But it's the translucent acrylic that makes me pee all over the rug.
:doh2: Here I thought it was the Bud Light.
:roflmao: :roflmao:
Some one say crow call and Bud Light?
Here you go....
:laf: :laf: :laf:
:laf: :laf:
:doh2: :doh2: :doh2: :doh2:
I think I could make that :)
Al
Al,
If you need any help with the call body let me know. I think I can work on hollowing out some of those bodies.
Jerry
Wonder how that would work if ya got pulled over with the Bud light call in your vehicle. Would it classify and an open container? I was thinking the same thing AL. Wonder if it would work better with a 40 oz
I think the 40 oz would make a better howler :)
We could be on to something here. A whole new line of designer game calls based of our favorite beverages.
Al
Jerry's will have to be a wine bottle. Now wouldnt that make a helluva howler :eyebrow:
Unless he burps into it!! :roflmao: :laf: :laf:
QuoteWe could be on to something here. A whole new line of designer game calls based of our favorite beverages.
Al
:wo: Yep.... sell them as singles, six packs or even by the case !
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
The wine bottle howler will be a "special" edition and you will need to hold out one pinkie when you use it.
Jerry
:roflmao: @ Jerry
Red or white ? :laf:
Since it would be used to call "red meat" I think it would need to be a red wine bottle. Now for a fish call . . . . .
Jerry
:nono: Good lord
Can anyone tell coyote season is slowwwwwwwwwly coming to a halt.
So did squirrel season but you will like this one Jim something from WI. Sorry i couldn`t resist putting a bellow on it :roflmao: I`ll have some guts in it by mourning LOL
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2247/2300803761_b0f0e8a998.jpg?v=0)
Fat squirrel call LOL
Later
Rich
I think we need to start our AA meetings up again this spring :laf:
QuoteI think we need to start our AA meetings up again this spring
Good Idea, I'll bring the beer
Al
The crow call made it already Al...boy that thing FLEW :eyebrow:
It's ab SO lutely beautiful. :yoyo:
When you post pictures of your calls, you know how to bring the beauty of them out in the process. And as usual...once they are in hand it's like their even better :shck: NO WAYYY!
Thanks again by the way.
I just might give it a test run this weekend :wo:
Jim,
I can't believe that you are planning to use MY call this weekend. After reading this I need a drink or two. I mean go empty some call bodies.
Jerry
:eyebrownod: I'm just approving it Yerry
Just finished this crow call. let me know what you think.

You are an evil man Mr. Jim. :roflmao: :roflmao: Glad you liked the gree one.
Al
That is evil.......just like you.
Troy prolly didn't buy the whole thing for a second, and was playing along to make me a fool on the backfire. :laf:
Well Jim,You got me .And I didn't know what to say at first. And yes you are a evil guy but that is what makes it fun.Oh I for got to tell you I am the master of one upsmanship. And now you are on my list I owe you my friend.
Your banned then
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Jim,
Paybacks are HELL and you have one coming from Troy. I read that post and just sort of backed away from it hoping no one knew I had been there.
Jerry
I agree Jerry, I just figured someone had pee'd in Jim''s Cherios or something. But you have to admit, he had Troy Hook Line and SInker LOL
Al
Heck, he had me as well. I looked at the call, thought that it looked good, then looked at Jim's post, went back and looked at the call again, and back to Jim's post. I thought maybe Troy had forgotten to put the reed in or something, but was also thinking that could have been solved pretty easily. So, I was right there with Troy wondering what Jim was looking for.
Jerry
What can i say? :laf: :yoyo: :innocentwhistle:
WOW Jim, I was thinkin what a prick! You had me too! Well played :bowingsmilie:
You guys arent going to believe this.....ahhh maybe you will. Stopped at one of the riverside pubs the other day after ice fishing for some lunch and guess what was hanging from one of the ceiling beams?
Duck and Goose calls made out of those aluminum bottles you's were posting. I asked the bar tender if they were functional or just conversation pieces. She said they were fully functional, and that some local retired guy made em and brought em in.
They had a price tag of $14.95 on em.
My brother piped in and said that he picked one up just out of curiosity a few months ago, that he had seen in the diner across the street, and made by the same guy.
So I thought to myself, cool...when we get back to his place I'm gonna snap a pic of it, blow it a few times and then come tell you all about this thing.
Got back to his place and I asked him about the call.
He says, "Ohh I gave that to one of the neighbors kids that was down here for the weekend fishing".
:doh2: :doh2: :doh2: :rolleye:
Get your arse (no offense Arse ) back there and get us a pic.
Yea Jim, we're gonna twist your arm and make you go back to the pub
