This is an open reed distress thats not quite finished.A little more work inside and it will be done.

I know the reed is not straight I seen that after I took the pic,but it has to come back out anyways
No really we had a good time turning this one and we both taught each other a few things about the lathe.

I learned 3 things today.
#1-- Don't buy any acrilic unless it's turned & finished. :pout:

I find acrylic harder then anything to turn, but I do love the results. I use tools that some say are not to be used for turning acrylic. I use gouges, but I scrape with them rather than slice like I do on wood. It works for me!!
I said it once and I will say it again, I can stare at a well finshed acylic call for hours. I just love how they look!!!
Thats right kuipdog. When I tried it I was using gouges too. THAT didn't work for me. :madd: Bill turns everything with a parting tool & it worked real well for him. I'll have to try that next.

Sounds like you boys had a pretty good time. I messed around on my freinds metal lathe over the weekend, and made me a nice coco keeper for a lanyard I am working on. I realized, that I need a new lathe. :biggrin:

I agree Brent!I have to stay pretty active,but I have noticed in the past year or so that the pounds don't come off
as easy as they used to :laf:
